This pitch is holding up pretty well due to very few grass thats left probably. Pakistan ideally would have wanted either more grass to be there or completely bald

Thanks for this, I enjoyed it. Lol @ how many of those runs came through the leg side.

That was the tour when our players went around asking the Australians for autographs.
Hannan Sarkar was the next big star according to aussie comms

It's a pretty surface level analogy. They are both medium paced and have a lazy action. Just desperately want competent bowlers
Well being pedantic I'd say Shahzad's at least ten k quicker, and probably more.

It'd be interesting to see a Fazal type bowler in test cricket today, although a strike rate of 71 might weigh on the 'interesting' part. That's why I'm peeved Mayers has effectively quit tests. Although he's more Len Coldwell it was interesting seeing a guy that slow bowl effectively.

It can't really work in modern test cricket. Maybe on ridiculously bowler friendly decks in SA. Even in his day Fazal needed matting wickets to succeed. I like to think of Philander as the closest thing in the modern game. Like chickens and dinosaurs.

lmao that is such a Shakib wicket. Lazy af.

Mayers was picking up plenty of wickets bowling about 120, which is slower than even Fatlander. Was with the Dukes ball on rather suspect pitches though. But even at Perth he looked WIs most threatening bowler. And he bowled in a manner more akin to descriptions I've seen of old medium pacers, constantly varying which way he was trying to swing and seam it.

One thing of wondered is why no-one tries cutters off a short run in places like India. I suspect the preoccupation with reverse swing would be a factor, I've played with a couple of bowlers who used cutters a lot and it chewed up the ball remarkably quickly, even at slow-medium pace.

When Saim took that wicket it brough his FC bowling average down from 113 to 57.

The bowling with the new ball has been completely undisciplined, lethargic and weak.

In fairly recent times there has been M Asif and M Abbas as well as Philander. Australia has had Sayers and Adam Dale, but more at fc than test level (though the latter had some kind of international career). Southee is close to those speeds, or has been when I've seen him in Australia and Roach nowadays too. I wonder how quick Gus Fraser was? He could be another. So the style isn't completely extinct in the modern game.

Teams continuing to bowl short to Litton Das is ****ing hilarious. It's the actual strongest part of his game. He loves short pitched bowling the way most desi bats love half volleys. He's more comfy against fast, short bowling than he is against spin.

It's like they do no homework at all and just see the BCB logo on the helmet and dig them in halfway down the pitch as a reflexive response.

Anyhoo, this is all dandy, and a bit of a relief tbh but this pair and Miraz need to make a lot more runs because I'm not sure we'll even get 5 out of the tail.

We've had long-standing issues with getting our last three bats to make 10 between them. But this time there's the added issue of Shoriful Islam, formerly the worst batsman in our history, acting coming in BEFORE Nahid Rana whose first class average is 0.75.

Its going to be funny if Nahid Rana can middle one but seriously though tail looks so weak without Taijul/Taskin.

Naseem Shaheen Ali were trundling and didn't even try to find reverse.
These guys won't last 3 tests against England.
Shaheen may end up bowling 125kph thunderbolts by then
