Need to weigh them up against players who didn't have contracts and looking back at CSA T20 a few months ago. Not many bowlers really besides the young one's which will be up for rookie picks or signing those above.

Rubin Hermann
Rivaldo Moonsamy
Raynard van Tonder
Andile Mogakane
Eddie Moore (no chance he will be signed)
Jiveshan Pillay
Khaya Zondo (no chance he will be signed)
Clyde Fortuin (no chance he will be signed)
Marques Ackerman
Jono Bird
Neil Brand
Sine Qeshile

Siya Simetu (spinner)

Okuhle Cele (seamer)

Rookie picks should be fun.
Brevis (03), L Pretorius (06), Stolk (06), Simelane (03), Seleka (02), Maphaka (06) all remain on normal contract despite being rookie aged eligible. Ronan Herrman (03) & Matthew Boast (03) lost their contracts and can't be re-signed as rookies although I think the latter wasn't on a rookie contract anyway.

Main rookie picks for me

1. Meeka-eel Prince (wk)
2. JP King
3. Dewan Marais
4. Leo Sadler
5. Tristan Luus
6. Ntando Soni
7. Esosa Aihevba

The 3 batsman are obvious picks as most advanced. Marais is one of the best young fielders I've seen.

Sadler, Luus, Soni and Aihevba all part of the CSA bowling camp working with bowlers with 140kph+ potential. Sadler is a genuine all-rounder too. Luus picked for SA A and Soni and Aihebva are still in school.

I quite like Ross Boast (made SA Colts last year & going to Maties but has't played any serious cricket since Jan so no idea what has happened). He looks the type of AR that can spark a game with bat or ball. Nothing safe in his play but has the correctness in his technique too. After smashing the ball around, can come in and bowl with the new nut. Pace and bounce.

Corbin Bosch signed for MI Cape Town as a wildcard. A bit meh. Just leaves JSK with a wildcard.

13 auction spots left + 6 rookies. Auction list out on Wednesday. Auction right at start of October I think.

Why do South African fans enjoy this btw?

You've signed your game over to the IPl overlords.

Already impacted your Test team and now your ODI team is going down the drain too cos your best players are busy playing another IPL dominated league.

A few reasons. Our players don't get paid enough so it keeps them happy. We were at the top of the game for 2 decades since coming back and the minute we've faultered for a multitude of reasons starting at the mismanagement of CSA by non-cricketing people we now found ourselves outside the circle of the 'big 3'

It also is a place where government or CSA interference is less so we can actually just appreciate the best v best in sport and entertainment and not worry about general socio-economic issues that seems a problem to be discussed all the time. But I mean most coaches now are not white, our school feeder teams are not predominantly white. There is certainly no perceived prejudice anymore.

Our Proteas players and international players get to train and play with the next tier of talent.

For me, it isn't the entire answer to our problems but it may help & I can just appreciate our best players being picked on merit and no other reason.

Whatever it takes!!!
I also dont think IPL overlords is a great term. Sure, quite a few of those owners are dicks but the Rajasthan Royals owner, for example, was interviewed on a Sky Sports podcast by Atherton and Hussain and spoke so much sense. He seemed to take genuine pride at how they discovered Dhruv Jurel and the fact that he went on to do great in test cricket for India. There are some geuine cricket lovers and supporters there and that can only be good for the game.

Two seasons in and I think we have seen the impact on the T20 and ODI teams. Just from a mentality perspective more than anything else. It doesn't cure some of the technique issues etc that make someone ready for Tests but I think its been good in that it's raised the profile of Cricket in the country. When last have we had domestic games absolutely packed for the duration of a tournament?

The IPL is repetitive at times but it's given India some real gems across all formats. I expect to see a few of those players show up for SA like that in due time.
