Can someone explain the 15m swimming pool rule that the British guy got disqualified for?
What advantage does a swimmer have by staying under water for longer as I would have thought you'd move quicker when above and in your stroke?
The answer is that apparently you move slower when above and in your stroke.

Something about momentum from the push off the wall maybe? The underwater part is faster anyway, hence the limit.

Nah you have momentum off the start/turns (which is when you’re at your fastest) and if you’re nice and streamlined with your dolphin kick you’re easily faster under the water. Its not enforced in breaststroke iirc as you’d already be disqualified for the kicks so staying under too long is a detriment.

This is the race that caused them to make it a rule:

You can see the quite significant advantage Suzuki and Berkoff when they eventually do come up. Its most advantageous in backstroke of the 3, but in recent times Phelps was especially noted for relatively longer underwater times as one of the reasons why he was so fast.

Get rid of some of the rowing and replace it with professional rowing. See who can best win an argument and send their opponent off in a huff. Will the burgey method of aggressive, in your face AB support win the day or the oblivious walls of lists of Brook’s Side. Only the olympics could tell us.

Not if this gives even more unnecessary oxygen to YouTube debates like Destiny and their edge lord counterparts like Matt Walsh

Make it so you can only argue about unimportant things like we do here. Take on politics or religion and you're disqualified.

This is the part where I once again spruik the 100m sprint into the 100m swim.

Walking is ****ing deranged. In no way does it epitomises faster higher stronger.
All team sports can get ****ed. That is what world cups are for.
Rock paper scissors should get a gig.
