Can you try and be less of an idiot? Nice to see your your commentary expanding beyond insular and provincial prejudices of the sub continent to include international and historical dimensions.
Is this a general response or what? I'm a bit lost here.

The fact that people have to bring up a bunch of dinosaurs to compare with Ashwin says it all

The fact that no team has drawn a test series in India since 2012 says it all

The fact that he’s been the lead spinner in two away tour wins to Australia says it all

The fact that he’s outperformed Murali in Australia and Warne in India says it all

You can parse out pointless stats all you want but he’s a match winner of historical greatness

Lmao @ the gassing up of laker and verity. You need to be a light skinned player from the black and white footage era to escape every criticism modern cricketers get. Truly shameful how obvious these posters biases are.
You’re right, I should just ignore any players who didn’t play with colour TV. In fact we all should.

he is probably the best finger spinner to play in australia in a long time

noobs do not realize how tough it is for foreign spinners
In the colour tv era (1968 onwards, min 20 wickets):

Touring spinners in Australia..

Underwood 50 @ 31.48 1 5’fer
Kumble 49 @ 37.73 4 5’fers
Gibbs 40 @ 39.37 2 5’fers
Ashwin 39 @ 42.15 0 5’fers
Vettori 37 @ 40.18 3 5’fers
Miller 36 @ 22.47 1 5’fer
Bedi 35 @ 27.51 3 5’fers
Emburey 35 @ 32.11 2 5’fers
Chandrasekhar 28 @ 25.14 3 5’fers
Kaneria 24 @ 40.58 3 5’fers
Yadav 23 @ 28.13 1 5’fer
Ahmed 22 @ 33.59 2 5’fers
Swann 22 @ 52.59 1 5’fer
Qasim 21 @ 29.00 0 5’fers
Prasanna 21 @ 31.19 1 5’fer

It is tough, but Ashwin makes it look tougher than it really is.

None of this matters. Winning matters. Ashwin was the lead spinner in two BGS wins in Australia.

Apparently I’m not allowed to bring up players from the black and white era.
You are most welcome to do that but the playing conditions were hardly similar. Looking at people who played in the same matches gives a better idea. In the matches Ashwin played in Australia, Lyon played all of them and averages 48 with less wickets. That imo, gives a better indication of the pitches SENA teams makes for visiting India (not blaming them on anything, unless they blame India making "too" spin friendly ones).

You can bring up who you want, but you will get called out when you don’t address them with intellectual honesty
He presented facts, stats and players to make a comparison you moron; and in response to an “intellectually honest” comment that disqualified another group of players because of the era they played in.

No one has made a single argument for why Verity is better than Ashwin and there is no way you can justify the bar not being higher for people he played in an era of two max three capable cricketing countries, fewer test matches and lower professional standards.

Keep up with the program. No black and white players allowed. But the argument even after that is Ashwin is **** OS. Mm’kay?

There’s no debate. The right to argue is lost when you’ve been the lead spinner in two winning BGS series
