Is Bumrah the best cricketer India has ever produced?

Of those 4, only Tendulkar has a clear case to be above both of Bumrah/Ashwin. Hard to make an argument for the rest without going overboard on the WC mythologizing or the general overrating of batters.

Guy doesn't have a single 5-fer in SENA in 25 Tests! Don't care how many games he's won in India, don't care about the reasons behind his regular exclusion abroad, you simply don't get to be ranked in the top 5 with that sort of hole in your resume as a frontline spinner.
nah. All these guys just better, in some cases much better. Ashwin credibly 6. Bumrah orobably 8/9 depending on how you rate Laxman.
SENA is just four random countries, there’s nothing more special about those countries than anywhere else

Arbitrary numbers shouldn't overcome a generally great Test career.
They really aren't. Not if you properly rate batters vs bowlers. For one, bowlers actually do the more important part of the match winning with the wicket taking.

the other two are bumrah, kohli, ashwin, dravid and you can’t give anyone **** for choosing two over the other imo. they’re all thereabouts depending on how you rate longevity, SENA games, batting v bowling etc.
ashwin has a pretty decent case. even if you think kumble was a better bowler, ashwin bats, which has been quite important given the fragility of the batting lineup in the latter part of his career.
