those are what matter.Bumrahs career will be harder to judge because he is the only cricketer in history to almost exclusively play only in world cups and in difficult test series (mostly away from home) with the odd tune up series inbetween.
Nah **** off with this. We don't get here as a Test side without Ashwin's contributions. Go be a racist idiot elsewhere, thanks.Ashwin , Indias greatest cricketer?
Tell me you are a South Indian without telling me you are a South Indian.
Ashwin is not even in top 5.
Imagine the greatest cricketer uour country has produced doesn’t even have a fixed place in the squad.
Before people come in with how it’s not his fault, check how Ashwin ranted about not getting picked in SA and England and then when he was picked couldn’t spin a single ball.
Already is, see: Jimmy Andersonalso with the way cricket is going, total runs/wkts will become meaningless like "total international goals". the level at which it was achieved will be looked into.
Same for Sri Lanka Test stats during the 2000s. Played a lot v Bangladesh and Zimbabwe for some reasonpakistan top order have insane stats due to playing minnows and weaker lineups but always fail at tournament level. babar azam's entire loi career is soft runs.
Babar has been good in ODIs and has a decent WC record. His T20 career is soft.Pakistan top order have insane stats due to playing minnows and weaker lineups but always fail at tournament level. babar azam's entire loi career is soft runs.
Ashwin is clearly better than whoever his replacement would be but is he really that important a cog? Jadeja has been around and is arguably just as good a cricketer. For home games an Axar or Kuldeep could bully touring SENA sides just about as good as Ashwin.Nah **** off with this. We don't get here as a Test side without Ashwin's contributions. Go be a racist idiot elsewhere, thanks.
I think Ashwin is around 6th/7th.Tendulkar
Kapil
Kohli
Gavaskar
Bumrah
Ashwin
Dravid
Dravid highly underratedI think Ashwin is around 6th/7th.
Yes, because there is no guarantee the rest of the attack during his career would've been able to get all of his wickets at his average and SR if he didn't exist. His record even if you factor in home conditions and such is right up there as far as Indian spinners are concerned, with only Kumble having a decent shout for being a superior bowler. And he also provided batting depth on top of that along with Jadeja, if not as consistent now. Jadeja wasn't as consistent with his AR ability up until 2016/17 onwards, and at home he's not as versatile with his bowling as Ashwin has shown himself to be. He's a massive reason as to why this Indian side is the best Indian side ever (as of this post) and to not put him right up there in the top 5 at least requires you to basically pretend that bowling isn't that important to winning Tests.Ashwin is clearly better than whoever his replacement would be but is he really that important a cog? Jadeja has been around and is arguably just as good a cricketer. For home games an Axar or Kuldeep could bully touring SENA sides just about as good as Ashwin.
He's nowhere near as valuable to this Indian side as Sachin was, or Kapil, or Gavaskar, or probably even Dravid and a bunch of others IMO
Overrating batters in general compared to bowlers when India have rarely had bowlers as good as Ashwin and Bumrah in recent memory seems weird to me.I think Ashwin is around 6th/7th.
No need to get offended, its reality.Nah **** off with this. We don't get here as a Test side without Ashwin's contributions. Go be a racist idiot elsewhere, thanks.
yeah, because Bedi and Kumble had Bumrah and Shami etc bowling alongside. Does it really need to be pointed out?Indian bowlers with 100+ test wickets by average:
Bumrah - 159 @ 20.69
Ashwin - 516 @ 23.75
Jadeja - 294 @ 24.13
Shami - 229 @ 27.71
Then you have
Bedi - 266 @ 28.71
and then Gupte, Dev, Kumble, Chandrashekar all at 29.xx
Top 4 are all current players.
Indian spinners never really bullied SENA (and other teams) as well as these two have.
Kuldeep/Axar to join the above list soon.
It's a **** statement, hardly reflective of reality. We have no need for racist liars tbh. You can kindly **** off.No need to get offended, its reality.
Home track bullies are worth their weight in Gold, but Ashwin is basically Bowling version of Sehwag and shouldn’t and wont be rated any higher.
Jadeja has shown he is as good in home conditions and a better batsman away from home.
Most overs bowled for India since 2018 when Bumrah made his test debut:

everytime i post this or something related to this for Bumrah people resort to ad hominem insults like the redditor a few pages ago or completely ignore it and go on yapping about something else, wonder why
he hasnt had a lot of injuries tbh that arent niggles or the minor ones most pick up
he had one long injury layoff and was rushed back from it that forced him into an extended layoff again, on either side of that he has been remarkably fit and consistent despite his action looking so ungainly on the eyes
Must be busy tardingNot really. India have played 61 Tests since Bumrahs debut. He has only played in 59% of them. Only a tard would try argue that playing 59% of games was a good sign of longevity.
The stats of the 5 other guys at the top include one guy who basically retired (hasn't been selected) 3 years ago, one that made his debut 3 years after Bumrah and 2 spinners where only one will play in most away Tests.
Contributed to 2 test series wins in ausHome track bullies are worth their weight in Gold, but Ashwin is basically Bowling version of Sehwag and shouldn’t and wont be rated any higher.
