Moooo
Providence ground usually have good drainage.
Someone suggested it's because Sunday is church day.The big mistake ICC made was to not have the final on Sunday; it would have allowed an extra day to be scheduled. Plus the winner of the 2nd semi final needed that extra day to travel, recover and prepare. Now, however, there is little time. Match might finish late on Thursday and next morning winning team has to fly to Barbados and give themselves the remaining part of Friday to recover, so that they are ready by 10 am the following day (Saturday) for the final. There's really no time to prepare or practice or even recuperate completely.
That doesn’t matter for the Indian viewing audience - and WI do play cricket on Sundays regularly.Someone suggested it's because Sunday is church day.
Although I wasn't born at that time, the stories I've heard about this match from the elders make it feel incredibly real and near to me. Coming from a village with a predominantly Indian population, it resonates deeply—celebrating Holi, the joy and excitement of the day.Amazing match, especially in the context of what happened in the next year
This is almost as dumb as actually having a reserve day for just one of the semi finalsI just want to make one thing clear to all the ignorant people out there.
Both the semi finals had EQUAL amount of extra time in case of rain. It's 250 minutes. It's the SAME for both matches.
Since 1st semi was a night game starting late at 8:30pm, only upto 60 minutes of extra time could be added on the night of the game. And the remaining 190 minutes were reserved for the next day from 2 pm till 5:10 pm. Total 250 minutes (60 mins + 190 mins).
Second semi final because it starts early at 10:30 am, all 250 minutes of extra time could be applied later on the same day, so there was no need to have a "reserve day."
Technically first semi final didn't really have a reserve day either, it was just a "190 minute window" the next day as they couldn't fit much of the 250 minutes of extra time on the night of the match.
Essentially People / ex-cricketers particularly English / media are spreading BS online without knowing the actual facts.
Yeah I had the locals in mind rather than Indian viewing audiences as India is predominantly not a Christian country but probably nonsense in that case. That doesn’t matter for the Indian viewing audience - and WI do play cricket on Sundays regularly.
Bourda always seems like one of the most atmospheric Caribbean grounds on old highlights.Although I wasn't born at that time, the stories I've heard about this match from the elders make it feel incredibly real and near to me. Gavaskar smashed a ball into the Santa Rosa restaurant and bar, while Kapil Dev sent several soaring out of the ground and onto Mustapha's farm. I estimate the distance to be at least 110 meters. The weight of the bats back then was truly remarkable.
The first time I set foot in Bourda, I was awed at the grandeur of the ground (it was never a stadium and that's the beauty of these old school cricket grounds.) Something to do with me being a country boy in the city too.Bourda always seems like one of the most atmospheric Caribbean grounds on old highlights.
light rain from 10:54am to 11:52amIs the rain forecast to hang around all day? Hilarious if so
Please be more specificlight rain from 10:54am to 11:52am
great so the **** are you doing in here you snobby ****“Arshdeep is India’s best bowler because he has more wickets” than Bumrah is exactly the type of brain dead commentary I’d expect from T20 and validates my decision not to watch this crap.
Meant to get better as the day goes on and their drainage is good. I'd be surprised if we don't see any cricket but on a spin-friendly track got to think India are slight favourites. I'd fancy England on a road.Is the rain forecast to hang around all day? Hilarious if so
