The last was 3ft 9 inches and to be honest, not an easy putt with a load of break. But the one on 16 will really haunt him. I fancy if he'd holed the one on 18 then I doubt DeChambeau gets up and down from the bunker. He possibly goes for more from under the trees too.
Don't watch so much golf these days but wonder if there's something in the mind with McIlroy. I remember him imploding on a round at Augusta some time back and wondering then if he can't always handle the pressure. With such a long wait between majors, it will surely be weighing him down and if he finishes his career with only 4, it'll be a major understatement. Not quite up there with Van de Velde at the 99 Open or (surely the field leader) Norman at the US Masters in 96, but still a bottle job for the ages.
Still only 35 though (Faldo was 38 when he won his last major) but it's ten years now since Rory claimed one, so yeah, dunno.
The interesting thing about the Augusta implosion was that he came out and won the US Open by miles in his next Major. He's won enough tournaments in his career to know he's not really a choker, but I think he puts too much pressure on himself for the big ones. It will be interesting to see how he reacts to this from a psychological point of view.Don't watch so much golf these days but wonder if there's something in the mind with McIlroy. Interesting comparing his career with Faldo (2 years younger). They had an almost identical number of Top 6's in Majors (close on 20), but Faldo won 6 of them. I think there was also less competition around in that period.Rory is a monumental talent but some perspective is needed
He’s won 4 majors which represents a fantastic career and he’s got years left
Norman was world #1 for nearly 6 years and only won 2
Now that’s an underachievement!
Bryson’s victory is the best thing to happen to golf in yearsInteresting comparing his career with Faldo (2 years younger). They had an almost identical number of Top 6's in Majors (close on 20), but Faldo won 6 of them. I think there was also less competition around in that period.
We can say that Rory hasn't won since 2014, but some serious talents have appeared since then, and somewhat disappeared too (Spieth, JT). Rory is clearly the most naturally talented golfer of the last 15 years, but he's missed some big opportunities when they've presented themselves. I actually think last year was just as bad when he failed to put Clark under any real pressure. At least this time he forced a far more talented golfer to produce a worldie at the last.
This is great content from Johnson Wagner and the man himself.....

Golfers are probably a lot better as a group these days but not sure that relative talent was weaker in the 80s/90s. Faldo won six titles up against Seve, JMO, Woosnam, Langer, Norman, Price, Couples, Irwin, Stewart, Azinger, Calcavecchia and so on.Interesting comparing his career with Faldo (2 years younger). I think he's the most likely to return to the PGA. It was interesting seeing his segment with Kaufman on Friday, he clearly loved playing in front of big crowds at Bay Hill for example. Now whether his win brings more people to LIV (I suspect not because most people seem to have their views set in stone on LIV one way or another), he's a showman who needs to feel the love of adoring fans. No surprise he's thriving in the Majors when he's got the big numbers watching him.Bryson’s victory is the best thing to happen to golf in years
Like him or not, he’s potentially the biggest star since Tiger (Scottie is a better player but has the personality of a house plant) as he brings eyeballs to tournaments and other media
Guy participated in that segment after spending hours with thousands of fans who stayed behind for autographs and selfies
