Two India vs Aus A games have been announced.

First first-class match: Oct 31-Nov 3: Great Barrier Reef Arena, Mackay (10am AEST)

Second first-class match:
Nov 7-10: MCG, Melbourne (10.30am AEDT)

Could this be the Aus A side?

India A vs Australia A

So we won't see the main Indian test starters participating in those games.

India also happen to have 3 tests scheduled vs NZ for Oct, finishing early Nov.

India's only warmup match will be an internal squad match scheduled for mid-Nov.

An... an Australia A series? Against a peer nation's A team? Just before the Test summer starts so it has direct relevance for selection, and it's more than just a single game?

This is almost too sensible to be real.
Happened last year (in September, tbf).

So , Indian Team is shaping as:

Jaiswal
Rohit
Gill
Kohli
Rahul
Pant
Jadeja
Thakur
Shami
Bumrah
Siraj

Australian Team is shaping as:
Smith
Khwaja
Labu
Green
Head
Marsh
Carey
Cummins
Starc
Lyon
Hazlewood

Looks to be evenly matched sides . Australia start as favourites 60:40 .

Whatever it takes!!!
I think Akashdeep might go well there. If Shami is not fit and I am also a bit iffy about Rahul, I will go with...

Rohit
Jaiswal
Gill
Virat
Pant
Sarfraz/Rahul
Jaddu
Ash
Shami/Akashdeep
Bumrah
Siraj

Also maybe Arshdeep can be kept in the mix? He had some good outings for his county I think and is a decent red ball prospect as well.

Can't see Ashwin playing in Perth, Adelaide (Pink Ball) or Brisbane as there will be no assistance for spinners.

So it's likely that Thakur will play the first 3 tests but I'd like to see a proper fast bowler play instead.

Jadeja
Akashdeep
Shami
Bumrah
Siraj

Ashwin did just fine in Adelaide last time round, and it wasn't like Lyon was useless in Brisbane. Ashwin can easily be justified to be in the XI ahead of the 4th seamer.

Jadeja+Ashwin in the same team is fine. Jadeja basically plays as a specialist bat nowdays, him being a 5th bowler/holding spinner is a different thing in Australia. Don't think the indian selectors will see it that way.

To be fair, Jadeja has done well in Australia with bat and ball in the opportunities he's gotten.

EDIT: In 4 Tests so far, he has 175 runs at 43.75 and 14 wickets at 21.78. I don't think he's guaranteed to be this good again, but it'll take quite a few things for him to not do well again (though sadly his fragility hasn't helped).
