International Vice-Captain
Two bowlers of similar quality
yet another position you “feel, deep in your heart” but have zero analytic basis to substantiateGibbs.
He's clearly ahead to be fair.I don't really see how this could be a contest? Ashwin is streets ahead. Much more of a matchwinner. Far better strike rate, far more 5fors and 10fors. His average against every country is better than Gibbs career average.
I believe I rate Gibbs sufficiently high, but it's not really close. Ashwin is easily one of the top 5 home bowlers of all time; and his relative record in England (good average) and Australia (some great performances) is not really poor. Also excellent in WI and SL.He's clearly ahead to be fair.
He's also been shielded from some overseas assignments, played on, let's call them favorable pitches at home and had the benefit of DRS forcing batsmen to play.
not this stupid myth againHe's clearly ahead to be fair.

He is.Reflexive overrating of older players
Anti Ashwin agenda by some guy who claims Nathan Lyon is a better bowler
