It's because JBMAC is also noted for his love of Bazball.Wow..... I don't why but I always got the impression of your age to be closer to the likes of L&L and JBmac than me

His posts are beyond his years, but mostly you've been fooled because you always see an old man smoking a pipe.Wow..... I don't know why but I always got the impression of your age to be closer to the likes of L&L and JBmac than me
Somehow I've only just realised that's a picture of Fred Trueman.because you always see an old man smoking a pipe.
Loved Ponting. Invited us to bat at Edgbaston in 2005, bowled Marcus North at Panesar and Anderson at Cardiff and didn't pick a spinner at the Oval in 2009. What's not to like? And yes, he could bat a bit too, especially when the chips were down.I reckon we English loved Warne more than the Aussies tbh.....total respect for McGrath, less so for Waugh.......hated Ponting in his playing days but full respect for him now.
Haha. Profile picture probably doesn't help!Wow..... I don't why but I always got the impression of your age to be closer to the likes of L&L and JBmac than me
I don't particularly love Bazball tbh. I just called myself that because I joined here in the Bazball honeymoon phase. It's because JBMAC is also noted for his love of Bazball.
Once it emerged that Bairstow had been trying to do the same thing to Aussie batsman I was over it, and more inclined to think he deserved it.What about Carey?
Panto or genuine dislike/belief he cheated
Well yes.....thats certainly a big miss for Stokes and BMac. Both been very vocal that the No 1 priority of their tenure is to endear their team of players to Australians.Don’t think any recent English players are liked in Australia. Clear mental edge we have there over the Poms.

Not sure there is anyway back from such an epic fail.
My impression of McGrath has changed since his retirement. In his media work he comes across as an pleasant and attractive personality which he didn’t at all on his playing days. Warne always fitted into the ‘loveable rogue’ category - he might sledge you but it was just a means to an end and you knew at heart that he didn’t really mean it.The English cricket media adored Warne, and I think the supporters couldn't help but like him too. I tend to experience quite a lot of England fans not liking Murali very much and I suspect some of that is because of the natural Warne comparison.
With McGrath, he wasn't as warm and captivating as Warne, but you couldn't not respect him. I was born in 2001 - I'd have hated him if I was born 10 years earlier!
When Broad retired he said that he and Anderson had previously agreed that they would not go at the same time so as not to leave a huge hole in the dressing room.I'm surprised he's only getting one test this summer tbh. But I think finishing this summer is the right time. With hindsight, he probably should have gone out with Broad but I guess Broad would have wanted his own send off.
I'm in favour of moving Anderson on personally. I think if he's lost a step (seems likely) his light bowling workload and being a strict no11 becomes a problem. And secondly, our record in Australia since 1987 is atrocious and that is reason to give away ashes some significance. Anderson was always likely retiring before then and even if he didn't, 3WPM @30 was his ceiling in Australia. We had one more overseas leg before then and needed to give better options down under a chance to establish themselves and develop to a realistic extent etc. When Broad retired he said that he and Anderson had previously agreed that they would not go at the same time so as not to leave a huge hole in the dressing room.
Giving Anderson one final test as a sort of victory lap is odd. What if he takes 10 wickets? Surely it would have been better to start him in the series, and if it didn’t go well, announce part way through one of the tests that this would be his final one, as indeed Broad did.
