Whatever it takes!!!
Brevis is a proper bat? He's not a pinch hitter or a slogger. The choice is more do you want brevis in early after wickets or the extra death hitting and bowling romario gives you.
I understand. I just think the simplified thought process works better here.

I dunno how the choice between Shepherd and Brevis is appealing either though? You want proper batsmen in your top 6.
i pointed why and how though, Brevis offers you that proper batsman but if you dont need that in case your top 4 already bats a good chunk of the overs then you could throw Shepherd on who does late overs hitting well and can bowl

dude you’re a csk fan, how many times have the likes of Badrinath, Dube, Rayudu, Ali, Jadeja and Dhoni switched batting order positions depending on the state of the match? how is that any more simplified than this?

I understand, I just think that a) Brevis is still better as a batsman even in those situations and b) its a very defensive thought process. The impact player rule basically allows you to play with 12 players but you are trying to sneak in a 13th in there, with this thought process.

Switching batting positions is fine, not knowing who is gonna play the game is a different kettle IMO.

it only feels weird because it hasnt been done before, once it becomes the norm it wont feel different to switching batting positions. imagine you’re told you will bat at 4 but then you’re pushed down the order for a hitter because the top 3 batted for 15 overs and you end up not batting, it isnt too different from not playing the match barring your fielding at that point

if anything DC made a legit panic impact sub in their 1st match when they threw on Porel to arrest their batting collapse, that was completely unexpected and it didnt get any criticism because Porel performed that day, an alternative look would be to criticise them for throwing in a batsman cold

if Brevis worked out today the narrative would have been “bold impact sub saves the day”

I get your point, I just dont think its the best way to use this rule and they are trying something too greedy. The whole thing smacks of Jayawardene tbh.

Yeah, I agree when things go sideways you can use your impact player sub differently in desperation. That is fine, for mine.

its at least more interesting than the same sub batsman and bowler out for 6th or 7th bowling option or extra batting depth that every other team does monotonously thats making every match 12v12

Parag has high backlift and plays good pulls and cuts. His hand eye coordination is good as evident on the drive he made to bumrah but not tested enough yet with the fast paced fuller lengths in the last match and this one too. He might be found out on those. Nortje bowled short and today coetzee too to him.

he pulled a 90mph short ball for six over mid wicket. think he will be fine with the fuller ones

Yeah but that is why the rule was stupid. I would rather they repeal this and introduce injury subs instead, from next year.
