How dare you.Auckland winning the Otago Cup
Maybe he can invade Tibet while he's there.Younghusband a squad bolter for Asia tours?
I had no preconceptions about his height tbh. Nevertheless, he’s closer to the average man’s height than Macewell is.
I think Foxcroft's personal situation may have impacted his development and performance. There was an article in December stating his first child arrived in November eight weeks ahead of schedule. Which would have likely resulted in a bit of hospital time. Captaining a poorly performing team wouldn't have been an easy job on top of being a new dad to a prem baby and carrying the hopes of the team batting wise. I'm sure he was promised the captain's armband before the season started, but, on reflection it probably wasn't the right fit with everything going on.Winners, losers 23/24
Winners
Dale Phillips - his first real big season with the bat afaia
Nathan Smith - top wicket taker and a couple of 50's to boot, and seemed to fairly clearly out bowl Southee in his last game of the season.
Zak Foulkes - outstanding numbers for such a young player
Michael Rae - came back late and proved himself a consistent old-ball wicket taker.
Mitch Hay - has moved ahead of Chu into poll-position as Blundell's understudy
Peter Younghusband - probably a bit late to make an international push but he was the outstanding spin bowler in this season's competition.
Tim Robinson - T20 only, but that was some sensational hitting in the Supersmash until he got injured.
Losers
Dean Foxcroft - has really fallen away with the bat big time.
Fletcher and Cleaver - both aspiring Blundell-subs have fallen away massively in the past couple seasons and now should probably be ranked behind the young turks Chu and Hay
Josh Clarkson - pretty ho-hum season with the bat from a talented player who was banging the door down last year (even if his bowling seems to have improved substantially).
Henry Cooper - once seen as having the potential to light a fire under Latham's butt, C00p's hopes of making a push for higher honours amounted to little.
16 million for a pavilion? Really?Top flight cricket could be pulling up stumps at Pukekura Park
It was once described by cricketing bible Wisden as among the six best venues in the world - but its days may be numbered.www.rnz.co.nz
Never going to happen here sadly. They've just approved a new sports hub at the racecourse and Council are in a cost cutting mood which has put staff morale and will to give a **** in the bin (especially when you look at what Green is spending on contractors).Re Pukekara Park Pavilion (nice alliteration there) - does the funding need to come from ratepayers?
I'm sure there'd be lots of New Plymouth/Taranaki businesses, families, philanthropists etc. who'd be willing to contribute. Perhaps they could have a Barrett room or something like that full of rugby memorabilia and a Martin Donnelly room etc.
This would rule hard(imagine day night tests during festival of lights)
