NZ domestic season 2023/24

I honestly wonder whether guys go out of Auckland because of cost of living, traffic etc. That's got to be a consideration going forward - your contracts are going to buy you a considerable more amount of time and necessities elsewhere

Pleasantly surprised to see Popli still there even after the gain of Robbie O'Donnell. Suppose it might be to do with the presumable loss of Seifert to franchise. No Pringle nor J Walker, and Z Gibson and Bocock are the other omissions.

No Kuggeleijn? Pleased to see it, but I wonder why.
Leagues are interested in him. Probably ILT20.

Bad news is Seifert is in the same boat. He's in a terrible spot - he can't get a central contract because he can't get into the ODI team, in the one format where he's a regular he's seen as a backup when he should be a frontliner, & because of that leagues are interested in him.

Interesting Rowe getting a contract straight up in first year of senior cricket. Although I use term 'senior cricket' loosely, as he is CD roots, and in those provinces senior and Hawke Cup level cricket is common for the top end school boys.

Still. Not common to get a contract that soon.

Yeah, they must rate him. The article [on Cricket Canterbury's website] said something about picking him up whilst he's at University at Lincoln. Hook him in now and gain him for the long term, perhaps. He's the cousin of CD and NZ bowler Hannah Rowe, btw.

Tim Pringle not receiving a contract is umm…. Interesting. Was named ND’s player of the season last year for the Super Smash. Is obviously playing a lot of international cricket for the Dutch. Sounds like he needed surgery during the winter but surely you still pay him in some sort of good faith measure?

Agreed. Must be something going on there behind the scenes. Or someone's adding him as one of the last few contracts and there's a fight over his signature, perhaps.

Ol' "Pole Hunter" & Schreuder seemed to be the standouts from the U19WC Class of '24.
