Lol at Shamim waxing lyrical about Mominul's innings as if it's some sort of feat of high batsmanship. Blud, he's on 60 on a deck where the opposition has managed to set a target of 500.

I'm impressed with Shoriful. It appears he's worked on his batting and made an improvement. Pretty vital for us given we struggle to get 10 out of our tail most of the time. That's another segment of the game where we're too far behind other teams usually.

Kumara really needs to slim down. I've always thought he has the right tools to be a very good Test bowler but he is handicapping himself by carrying around extra weight.

I actually don't understand how fast bowlers - and there's a few of them - have this sort of shape when they're training all year and sending down hundreds of overs. Surely a metabolism thing unless they're eating pizzas and tubs of rice every week

Well done to the Sri Lankan chaps. Your team is just far better than ours in this format and they demonstrated this again. Your pace attack has been excellent in the last two series in Bangladesh.

I'm not specifically speaking about Lahiru Kumara here, but I think Sri Lankan people are still very traditional in some ways. Many grew up eating rice for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and don't really follow modern science enough to know how bad carbs are for you.

Once they make it in the sport and start earning big at a young age, the pizzas and alcohol get added in and people indulge more than they should. Lots of money at a very young age and all that comes with it, including social status and a more indulgent culture.

All of these guys hit the gym and work out, and obviously do some bowling, but they aren't consistent enough and dedicated to changing their lifestyle completely for sport. Genetics is also a factor, of course. We don't always have the same musculature and build as those from some other countries. Additionally, there is less infrastructure and quality guidance at lower levels and club levels to promote better fitness. So when these guys make it to the top, they aren't always ready and at their peak fitness wise.

What the **** was Bradperson doing batting at 7?
Thought this was well known. He changed the order to go in when a sticky pitch had dried out - you'll notice that O'Reilly and Fleetwood-Smith opened (this was at the end of the day, allegedly he said to Fleetwood-Smth 'you can't get out if you don't hit one', the third ball the next day he finally hit one and got out), and Ward came in three.

Although sometimes cited as an example of Bradman's cricketing genius, sending in the worse batsmen on a sticky pitch was actually a known strategy, if not commonly used (suspect its usefulness was probably limited to when it seemed certain to stay clear). Reggie Duff scored a century on debut from no. 10 though he was a specialist batsman who usually opened. In that innings Trumble, Kelly, Howell and Jones all went in above Hill, Trumper and Noble.

On the other hand Bob Wyatt did it in 1935 against the West Indies -on a matting pitch-, and England collapsed and failed to bat out two sessions to save the match, losing on the second last ball.
