I agree.

It's not disrespect. India is just blessed with many bowling ARs.
It is disrespect to say Jadeja shouldn't make an XI. There's not much to that argument unless the overall point is to pick a losing team, because Kumble and Kapil as legendary as they are were not on the same level as Murali and Hadlee as bowlers. The bowlers matter more when it comes to winning Tests, because they dictate the bat and ball contest more than the batters and because the most important win condition is taking 20 wickets, not just outscoring the opposition.

Like if you said I could pick a 4 man bowling attack of Hadlee, Ashwin, Murali and Bumrah I'd take it and the extra batter no problem. That isn't the case if it's about India's ATGs.

What about Mankad?

And is Jadeja really better than Dev?
As a batsman only.... Hmmm....... I would definitely say it's really close; but Jadeja the batsman is imo closer to Imran the bat than Dev; especially since he has scored consistently in the last few years.

Jadeja isn't that good of a bat or bowler to justify being in the XI on either skill alone. Hence he is tough to place.

Just 3, isn't it? Jadeja, Dev and Ashwin. And Jadeja is the best bat of them all.
Ashwin shouldn't be clubbed among all rounders. Otherwise Pakistanis will say Wasim is also all rounder and South Africans will have Philander in that category too. NZ would obviously have Hadlee.

He is that good, people just don't like to say it for some reason.
Yeah Jadeja is totally good enough to make an Indian ATG XI as a pure batsman. Just like Miller is good enough to make an Australian ATG XI as a pure batsman. Or Sobers is good enough to make a West Indian ATG XI as a pure bowler. Or Imran is good enough to make a Pakistan ATG XI as a pure batsman.

Yet he is not even a confirmed pick in the side every test in the next Aus tour, but we are supposed to believe he is a lock in a ATG XI.
Of course he's confirmed in the XI every Test regardless of where he plays. Who would even say that he can be left out??????? @OverratedSanity can you help explain this to me?

In Asia, he is. Outside Asia, he is okayish.
Meaningless without context like I've said before earlier this thread for Ashwin. Once upon a time, outside Asia meant picking 2 spinners all the time.

It's okay, the ARs can't hurt you here. This is a safe space for you.

Ashwin and Kuldeep have a good case for being ahead of him and I doubt they would have three spinners. Having said that, I still see Jadeja appearing but like 2018 and 2021, not the entire series.

So Jadeja ain't a confirmed pick in the current level much less an ATG side.

The only reason he didn't play all the Tests in 2021 was because of the concussed hamstring and getting his finger broken after he got 4 wickets and a runout at #SCGSoSpinny. You'd be crazy to say he doesn't start every game. This is like saying Cummins shouldn't play every Test in Asia. Intentionally losing is not a viable strategy here.
