I'm sorry bro, but this is clear double standards.Ponting had two 'decent tours'; post 2015, Ashwin averages sub 30 in Australia and has 3 genuinely good performances, resulting in a series victory. Honestly, I don't think even you would say that Ponting in India and Ashwin in Australia are equal..... And let's be honest, his average in England really flatters him.
Ponting has good performances in India in 2008 and 2010 but none of those are used to suggest he wasn't a fail in India overall based on bad previous tours.
Similarly, Ashwin had two flop tours in Australia in 2011 and 2014 and an overall bad average, yet you don't want to call him a fail in Australia based on those handful of good performances later.
In England, you want to suggest Ponting's average flatters him, fine, but he has actual performances of substance in between, whereas you don't say Ashwin's average in England is flattering despite taking 18 wickets in 7 games.
At least apply one consistent standard and it is easier to discuss.
