Ok. How many tiers for ATGs?
3 + Don & WG
In the first tier, there are only around 10 players. Sobers, Imran, Sachin, Hobbs, Marshall, Hadlee, etc.
In the second tier are the likes of Gavaskar, Chappell, Smith for now, O'Reilly, Akram, etc.
In the third tier are the likes of Ponting, Dravid, Miandad, Walsh, Cummins, Lindwall, Ashwin, Verity, etc

Sure but even if we agree he has been at ATG level for the last 10 years, his early career should degrade him to ATVG. Simple.
Even if bowling at a very good level for extra time somehow makes a player worse, why don't you degrade Allan Donald for his pre-1990 and post-2002 career when he was largely worse than Anderson, who was at least servicable? If some England bowler existed and averaged 24 from 2014 to the present without being good enough to play tests beforehand, would you rate that bowler as superior to Anderson even though Anderson has outperformed him over the same timespan?

Right. So that third tier between us is ATVG.

Not only Viv, but Smith and Lara are also in that 2nd tier. In the first tier I have:
Sachin Tendulkar
Jack Hobbs
Garry Sobers
Imran Khan
Richard Hadlee
Malcolm Marshall
Glenn McGrath
That's it.
Sydney Barnes, Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne, Dale Steyn, Curtly Ambrose, Jacques Kallis, Brian Lara, Steve Smith, Viv Richards, Adam Gilchrist, and Sunil Gavaskar are at an awkward place for me. They're better than 2nd tier; but I want to restrict the 1st tier heavily.

Bro, just keep it to two tiers. Honestly. Make ATG exclusive and then we would agree.

Cool. Tho I think Steyn is closer to the top 3 bowlers than to Warne or Murali(for me, cause of the insane SR in a flat era, series defining performances across countries, great home away record(great at home, in Australia, in India, and goodish in Eng)). Also maybe Viv in tier 1 for me. Otherwise agree with your list.

His problem is adding a third unnecessary tier.

You can add the names of Steyn, Ambrose, Hutton and Hammond as well. Miller, Sangakkara and Akram are pushing it a little bit for me.

Atleast he was he wasn't **** enough to be dropped off regularly. Anyways, he is an ATG for me, just for his longevity as a genuine pacer.
Just because your team has a poor selection pool doesn’t make you a better player lol.
