I just do what the people wantAshwin v Lyon
https://indianexpress.com/article/sports/cricket/i-see-only-ashwin-getting-to-800-wickets-lyon-not-good-enough-to-go-that-far-muralitharan-7145924/ For me Ashwin is a far better bowler. He has so many variations. If he can play for 4-5 more years, he can take so many more wickets.www.cricketweb.net
No poll though. @PlayerComparisons, stop lazing around and get on to it.
Ponting’s sheer swagger wins against Ashwin’s nerdism and Lyon’s baldismBoth better than Ponting though amiright?
Yep. It goes Woakes>Ashwin>Lyon>Ponting. Both better than Ponting though amiright?
I used to think Ashwin was overrated but he has proven himself on flatter pitches as well as abroad. He may have averaged like 3 points higher in another era but he is still better than any spinner India has had in the last 3 decades.Lyon. Simply a superior all-round spinner.
People claim he has proven himself abroad but my test is for a spinner to run through a side to win a game and he hasn't done that yet. Tho I think he has a good chance to do that this time in Australia.I used to think Ashwin was overrated but he has proven himself on flatter pitches as well as abroad. I wouldn’t go so far as to say he’s proven himself abroad (unless we’re including SL and WI). It’s been one very good series basically and a few decent outings here and there but he’s also had some pretty average to bad ones. Have to apply the same level of scrutiny as you should to Anderson and KW.I used to think Ashwin was overrated but he has proven himself on flatter pitches as well as abroad.
I also don't think Ashwin has necessarily proven himself abroad yet; but I definitely think his first series in SL against Sangakkara and co should definitely count.I wouldn’t go so far as to say he’s proven himself abroad (unless we’re including SL and WI). I think Lyon is the more rounded bowler, but he isn’t better overall. At worst they’re on par depending on subjectivity. Ashwin is just too good at dominating series at home to levels that are quite frankly ridiculous.
They don't because of the value of that good series to Indian cricket frankly which is frankly affecting their assessment.I wouldn’t go so far as to say he’s proven himself abroad (unless we’re including SL and WI). Abroad is the wrong word. In non-SC conditions is better. I have little doubt Ashwin would do well in Pakistan/UAE too.I also don't think Ashwin has necessarily proven himself abroad yet; but I definitely think his first series in SL against Sangakkara and co should definitely count.
