*Official* Australia tour of New Zealand Feb-Mar 2024

Lyon badly needs to rethink his tactics tomorrow. I realise he's probably struggling with the breeze and that's why he's not going over the wicket, but he's taking so many modes of dismissal out of play by pushing so many balls past leg stump.

New Zealand did well to survive the last hour. Still alive which didn’t look likely at lunch. Given Australia’s defending woes, I think they’d be feeling nervous.

Phew. I can move from my chair and get on with my life for another evening and morning. Back together again tomorrow, everyone? Wouldn't miss it!

All up, that's a pretty good day for our guys. Still way behind the game but a big partnership between these two makes things interesting. It's really looking like the final wicket partnership (plus extras) in that first innings, plus Lyon hacking 40 this morning is going to cost the match.

That was a much better day for us than yesterday, I didn't give us much chance of winning at the start of the day but now we are back in with a chance.

Australia still favourites though.

We're a long way off. There's always a partnership. Australia should still win by 150 runs at least.
I was about to reply that it was unlikely we'd lose our last 7 wickets for 100, but then I remembered, y'know, it's us.

Having said that, I do - despite my inherent pessimism - think we can win this.

With the NZ cricket team, every test is Schroedinger's Test.

Plus the costly drops plus the reckless batting plus the needless Kane runout in first innings.

I'd be more concerned if there didn't seem to be half chances created pretty regularly in that last session tbh. Neither batsman looked super comfortable out there, a lot of balls were hit in the air near/just short/just over fielders.

That's how it goes sometimes. Green got a lot of praise for his hundred but for the first couple of hours of it he looked like he'd never played cricket before.

A very good day for NZ . I would say it is still Aus 75 NZ 25

The difference between the 2 side has been Day 2 morning session
Yeah take away that 116 run partnership between Green and Hazlewood and we would just about be favourites now or at least a 50/50 game.

Not to mention the absolute shambles of our first innings where we threw away early wickets which killed any hope of us making a good total.

Everything needs to go perfectly and that's a tall order. When the next wicket falls Blundell and Phillips will find it a different game. Ravindra was in today, but no one else was. Same goes for Green first dig.
