Allen 4/10 same good hack fraud slogs in game 1 but otherwise poor
Conway 6/10 looked scratchy as **** at the cake tin but found a way to battle through. Keeping was terribad and I hope it hasn't cost him a spot in the test side.
Young 3/10 just not up to it
Rachin 8/10 genuinely sparkling innings at the cake tin
Phillips 6/10 did OK but clearly not at the level that you can build a batting unit around him
Chapman 2/10 looked a long way out of his depth
Clarkson n/a honestly I don't think he had enough opportunities to draw any conclusions
Santner 4/10 bowled a lot more trash than is usual for him and absolutely killed NZ's momentum with the bat in game 2.
Southee 2/10 - looked good for his first 6 balls but otherwise cannon fodder.
Boult 2/10 - bowled an awful lot of crap, though to be fair he had a fair bit of bad luck with the new ball as well
Ferguson 10/10 - couldn't ask for more, don't know if I've ever seen him bowl better than he did in game 2.
Sears 7/10 - good intelligent fast bowling. Would've had better figures in game 3 if NZ could ****ing catch (though I guess you could say that for all the bowlers).
Milne 5/10 - looked great swinging the ball both ways at the cake tin, but was too erratic with his lines overall
Sodhi 4/10 - like Santner bowled a bunch of jug washed down with the odd clutch over here and there.

This is a fair point, and he'll need to get there in the next 2-3-4 years if we're to push on once Kane/Mitchell/Blundell/Conway/Latham move on.

A pretty fair assessment, Ferguson and Sears were the best of our bowlers and Conway, Rachin and Phillips were the best of our batsmen.

Just a shame Conway and Rachin only played the first match of the series, with them missing the last two matches our batting turned to custard.

Young and Chapman the biggest disappointments, they have been given enough opportunities but still fail to stand up against good opposition.

So if Conway is out for the 1st Test, I presume Young opens?
Conway should be fit enough for the test series, there was no break in his hand according to the scans.

I've been an advocate of Steve Smith the T20 player for a while now but I think it's time to bite the bullet and admit it just doesn't work. He should be a lot better than his output has been but the results aren't there and that's what matters.

We've got Head, Short, Marsh (and Warner) all to bat top 3 who are simply better T20 players than Smith. There's no place for him in the proper team and I think they know that too. I expect he'll travel to the World T20 with the squad but not play.

He could be useful if you get those slow wickets where 140 is a winning score otherwise yeah shouldn't be playing t20s. Probably ODIs too

Didn't see this match but looks like we attacked Australia with all the ferocity of a wet lettuce leaf. God I hate dropped catches. Some of our bowling this series was legitimately good, but you're not going to get anywhere dropping four catches per t20.

Agree that this was a large opportunity for Young and Chapman after neither was great in the ODI world cup, and they blew it. Chapman is weak vs pace and he drops catches too. Whereas I feel like Young could do ok, but he takes some poor options choosing when and where to attack.

Young is a better ODI option than T20. Chapman really needs a spell
Chapman is a hard one. He was T20I world player of the year last year...but I just feel like he's got an impossible role, he's expected to face 10-15 balls usually and to come off more often than not, which is just not going to happen. Then if he's in a slump, it's so hard to get out of. I don't think he can bat 5-6, when he's not a bowling option. He's a better pure batsman than that, and needs to be batting longer periods/be in form to continue to churn out runs, especially when we expect him to deliver in the 16th over or later.

And yes, Will Young is not a T20I player. Let him play the other formats and not have the confident crushing of continuing to be ineffective
