*Official* England in India 2023/24 #CryMoreTour

Yes, he did bring Kuldeep quite late but that is always going to happen with 3 spinners. And, Kuldeep was also played out easily by Root and co today.
He also missed a trick when Bairstow came in by bowling Siraj. That was a good time to bring KD on who had some form going in against Jonny. Just minor things like these which seem to happen too often with him. There's no harm in ringing through the changes when you have five bowlers just to keep the batsmen honest.

He was playing very recklessly at the start of McCullum's tenure tbf
Yep him and Root have gone the opposite way. With Stokes less reckless and Root more so.

As Root in that NZ series and the remaining India game from 2021. Played more like the pre McCullum way then regressed since then in the main.

Root seems impregnable in SC conditions like these when he plays normally. He needs to come out of his state of denial and accept he's far better without the circus sideshow strokes, at least whe he's just come in. A reverse scoop can never be as safe as a forward defensive. You're essentially taking physically sound weight distribution out of the picture and relying almost exclusively on hand-eye reflex

Norwood's on Fire
Stokes played like that in the early days to send a message to the younger guys that it was okay to play their aggressive games.

Root should be disciplined for violating the spirit of cricket, a strike rate below 75% is completely unacceptable. Surely millions of British fans tuned in to watch an entertaining Root cameo with a lot of reverse scoops and instead had to sit through this abomination of a grind fest! What's a century at the cost of the future of test cricket??! :@

Once upon a time you'd have looked at uneven bounce, bit of spin, and thought England were massively on top as the pitch will probably deteriorate, might still happen, but it looked dead in the final session, so who knows, think it'll be hard to play shots on whatever, very slow, but maybe hard to get anyone out.

Whatever it takes!!!

Basically how I described a typical Ranchi track at the end of the 3rd test.

And yet, we overreact every time to those first images of the pitches.

But yes, have to see how India bat and what England seamers get out of this as well. The tall ones may get more out of it and Robinson may end up an inspired pick.

Worried we will collapse tomorrow. :( Patidar at 4 and the long tail dont inspire confidence.
