Bolo.

International Captain
I’m curious. If Viv (for example) had his peak late in his career rather than early on, how would he be remembered/rated (assuming all other factors remain equal)? Similarly would other players who peaked late in their careers (Sanga, Anderson, Chanderpaul) be rated differently?
I'm pretty sure the earlier peaks get a solid perception boost. Of the bats in this poll, and the ones assumed to be ahead, the only one who wasn't running a 60+ average after a fairly decent chunk of tests is Sachin, who gets his own kind of early credit due to age.

What would your Top 10 batsmen list look like?

In chronological order. Test and first-class combined.

Grace, Trumper, Hobbs, Bradman, Sobers, Graeme Pollock, Barry Richards, Viv Richards, Lara, Tendulkar.
No Steve Smith, Hutton, Hammond, Headley, Gavaskar or Chappell before Barry Richards? Not complaining or anything, just interested in why Barry is rated so highly despite playing only 4 Tests and a few games in WSC.

Because he watched him bat. And like literally everyone who has, decided he was one of the best batsmen he's seen.

Plus he literally declared that he was factoring in tests and first class cricket .
