Better Test bowler?

International Regular
Waqar swung it huge more often and at a livelier pace, Bumrah has a better "bowling IQ".

Will go with what Sillycow posted, probably Bumrah if he retires with the same awesome stats that he has now.

a massive zebra

International Captain
Waqar's peak was better than Bumrah, but he was clearly far less penetrative for the second half of his career, after his pace dipped and the reverse swing became less deadly. Waqar for now, but Bumrah if he can sustain his current level for several more years.

Does Bumrah do bulk wickets? Feels like he takes a lot of great 3 fers like Cummins whereas the likes of Waqar/Steyn etc could be more inconsistent but runs through line up alone a lot more

Have no stats to back this up

Well as I’ve noted before, Bumrah is yet to have a 10’fer and is steadily catching the record for most 5’fers without one.

Bumrah currently ranks equal 49th amongst pacers with the most 5’fers.

Onto rate of 5’fers for pacers (how many innings per 5’fer)

Barnes 2.08 (statsguru says pacer)
Hadlee 4.17
Lillee 5.74
Imran 6.17
Botham 6.22 (Botham at 34 matches = 4.14)
Bumrah 6.5
Steyn 6.58
Marshall 6.86
Waqar 7 (Waqar at 34 matches = 3.21)
Rabada 8
Ambrose 8.14
McGrath 8.38
Cummins 9.25
Anderson 10.72

I’d say it might feel that way because when Ashwin and Jadeja are going strong he’s taking a few but he’s obviously the lead when there’s something in it for the pacers.

Note: His career isn’t over and these numbers mean crap all without context. (look how **** that McGrath dude is!)
