Latham is lucky Conway is struggling so much, because he's in pretty awful form himself, but there's been no mention of it.
No you have Turner and Bert Sutcliffe or Stewie Dempster open in an NZ all time team, not Latham.Latham has a lot of rope and is probably in our ATG team due to our lack of class openers besides Turner. But yeah he's been in indifferent form for a while
John Wright much better for me.Latham has a lot of rope and is probably in our ATG team due to our lack of class openers besides Turner. But yeah he's been in indifferent form for a while
That lucky moment when 3/5ths of the batting line-up is falling apart at the seams! He's been fortunate in that sense but also with more scrutiny on Nicholls
Think he speaks for many of us in their mid-40's.I’m not sure McMillan really thinks Santner is a young 32, that felt more like a full blown existential crisis about the rapid passing of time
Lol, no he's not. Sutcliffe, Wright and Richardson all clearly ahead of him. You could probably even make an argument for Fleming now there's no chance of him finding a spot anywhere else in the ATG top 6.Latham has a lot of rope and is probably in our ATG team due to our lack of class openers besides Turner. But yeah he's been in indifferent form for a while
Even Fleming managed tons in England, Aus and SA and he was terrified of tons.Lol, no he's not. Sutcliffe, Wright and Richardson all clearly ahead of him. You could probably even make an argument for Fleming now there's no chance of him finding a spot anywhere else in the ATG top 6.
Who?Latham erasure going on right now and I'm by no means a big fan
Look, I've got time for Latham. He's definitely a top 10, maybe top 5 all time NZ opener. He's also probably one of the better openers NZ has produced for subcontinent conditions. But when you're averaging sub-30 vs SEIAP, you can't really complain when people look at someone like Wright, who averaged 30+ v every country he played against (including some truly fantastic fast bowling units) and react to this comment with a lol.I absolutely subscribe to the Wright and Sutcliffe arguments but Latham deserves to be mentioned with them. Has more hundreds than both. Sutcliffe had a very short career and Wright's record is poorer.
While it's an era of NZ roads, opening is still often difficult here as the new ball often swings a lot. And plenty of runs vs Bangers? Ffs Bangers have been good for pretty much his entire career
