I think we're in a ok spot here despite losing the session. A 270 lead with 6 wickets to go is pretty good but the problem is the remaining batsmen aren't any good. Need a ton from Gill or at least 30s from Axar/Ashwin/Bharat would be handy.

The bazball chasing threat is real and it's pretty scary.

This lot needs to make 127 runs between them to get to 400…don’t really see that happening. And it’s not like that’s a guaranteed win for us even if we get there…Bumrah can’t do it alone. He needs significant help from the spinners if we are to make a fight of it.

Whatever it takes!!!
If only we had the guy averaging 66 with the bat in tests instead of Mukesh. Would probably bowl better than him too.
To be fair, I dont really rate Washy surviving long against spinners on such tracks but he would have surely ensured 50 more runs in the first innings, maybe 30 by himself and 50 in a partnership with Jaiswal. And would have bowled more than 7 overs for less than 30 runs. A net impact of, well, 66 or so.

KP is spot on about Gill's lack of a trigger movement. It leaves him with this laborious looking footwork where there's no momentum to his movements.

Yeah, he was chasing wide ones even in that last over by Anderson. I am not sure about trigger movements but definitely needs to learn how to leave more balls if he is to succeed in tests. Same as Jaiswal.

Please check your facts.
His mother is completely fine. Virat's brother posted on social media clearing the rumors you are believing.
Ab De Villiers confirmed yesterday, kohli is away for birth of his second child.
Why wouldn't he plan for his kid to be born during IPL?

Decent session for England.

If we can get Gill soon we might end up with a target that is chaseable.

This is a great pitch. Hyderabad was good too but got way too slow from day 3 onwards but this one has good pace, decent bounce while there is always the odd ball that turns and keeps low, but neither too much, and such good value for shots with the short boundaries and lightning outfield.

Why would he or anyone?
They would rather take personal leaves/break/mental break/rest whatever you call it during national duty.
Have you seen anyone asking for rest or needing breaks during IPL?
