We had Jerome Taylor wrecking England in 09Astonishing stuff. WI definitely not back, but holy **** is Joseph a star. Probably the greatest spell of quick bowling since Ambrose?
He really should.Dude is probably gonna name his new pet animal, Gabba
We would have had two wickets if Smith didn't drop braithwaite....I thought the reasoning behind it was to give his bowlers more time to bowl at Windies before stumps when there was more help for them. If they had taken more one wicket then that decision might have paid off.
I think they will only be truly back if they produce batsmen in the class of Lara , Richards and Sobers again ..Astonishing stuff. WI definitely not back, but holy **** is Joseph a star. Probably the greatest spell of quick bowling since Ambrose?
Feel like WI can always produce fast bowlers. Shamar Joseph has literally just walked off a beach. The batting is the main issue since domestic cricket is deadI think they will only be truly back if they produce batsmen in the class of Lara , Richards and Sobers again ..
However Test Cricket rewards fast bowling like no other format..
You can be a side in complete turmoil, but if you have some fast bowlers at your disposal you always have a punchers chance against even the best teams..Fast bowlers are gold dust in Test Cricket.
Don't need to go that far tbh. Sarwan, Chanders and Richardson would be good enough to make them consistently competitiveI think they will only be truly back if they produce batsmen in the class of Lara , Richards and Sobers again ..

I'd honestly take a Jimmy Adams at this point.Don't need to go that far tbh. Sarwan, Chanders and Richardson would be good enough to make them consistently competitive
@trundlerCan't believe some dumb ****s around the internets placing the blame on Smith for putting Haze in for two balls. Some people can not be satisfied
As Burgey pointed out earlier, if Smith doesn't take the single there they probably bowl 2 bouncers at him and Haze has 6 balls to face next overYeah in that situation you have to trust your partner for 1-2 balls an over and hope they don’t get an unplayable one. Smith did nothing wrong.
My thoughts exactly. Wi are still at the bottom of the heap, but this win should inspire us to realize the possibilities. The bowling attack should depend on the wicket with Roach, Seales and Shamar being sure things, then a spinner or one of Holder/Azhari.Having had some time to reflect on this a bit more, I think basically we won due to an all time great bowling performance from Shamarh. It's obviously amazing that we've found him and bowling like that will win us lots of tests in the future.
But I don't want to get too carried away with the whole '7 uncapped players' thing. Our batting was only really passable in this test, if that. Two of the debutants batted solidly in Hodge and Sinclair, but Greaves was pretty hopeless and Athanaze struggled. McKenzie looked super but found ways to get out and not carry on.
So I hope they don't keep this exact side together just because they won. I hope they make sensible decisions based on the upcoming 4 day tournament. If Brandon King scores loads, he should come into the side. Holder should come back for Greaves and any young batsman scoring centuries consistently should be invested in.
With Seales to come back, the attack looks good. This win was awesome, I loved it, but we need to keep progressing now.
I reckon Greaves could be a better pick for the ODI side. His List A batting record is much better, particularly the last season or two where he gunned it despite not bowling (I think he just wasn't fit to bowl?)Having had some time to reflect on this a bit more, I think basically we won due to an all time great bowling performance from Shamarh.
