So beautiful. How can you not root for WI? The India tour of WI just felt sad, it am most felt like we were watching somehow the end of cricket in this storied region. I’m so happy right now to see this. Amazing.

There's a difference between beating the World Champions on their home turf and beating an out-of-form England on your own tracks.
In terms of surprise factor perhaps. Maybe this West Indies team will turn into something a bit more competitive, but there's been several false dawns across twenty years of trash for me not to be particularly hopeful this is anything other than a major upset.

Annoyed now, just noticed Shamar Joseph not in the ODI squad

Fair enough though since he's only played 2 List A games 😄

Anyway, there were eight five-fors and only two centuries this Australian test season. While five-fors exceeded centuries in 18/19, that was a 10:9 ratio, not nearly so dramatic. The overall batting average for the season was 24.57. The last time it was lower was 78/79 (which in turn was the worst since 1887/88). I think the full list really contextualises how bad it was. No visiting batsman scored a century.

If its comparable with the sticky wicket era, than I think we should we praising Marnus for surviving our groundsmen's collective attempts to end his career

Ah **** this means we're worse than the West Indies. Seriously though, I sure ****ing hope Joseph is the Chosen One who's going to lead the West Indies resurgence. Just need to find a Headley somewhere. What a performance.

Also, shame to see Smith stoop to such blatant red inking at the cost of his team.

It's been a good combination of tourists playing better than expected, Australia playing worse than expected, and sufficiently sporting wickets.

And keeping private school-educated Queenslanders out of the side
I actually think Spencer Johnson would be arguably better suited to the long form game - how about you @GoodAreasShane ?

Something like this was bound to happen at some point in the summer, tbf. Only reason Pakistan didn't take a game of us was them fielding like Muppets and dropping a million catches.

Not sure what you even do after this loss, honestly. Marnus needs to be put under a bit more spotlight after this loss, though. The whole post Warner fiasco with the batting order has kinda hidden the fact that he's been poor for a while. I was willing to ignore it after the pak series cause he got runs in the 3rd test, but he's had some brainless dismissals this series.

What a beautiful morning to wake up to and see that we’ve beaten the number 1 test team in the world.

I’m lost for words. This win is so special. People wrote us off; our inexperienced team, but we came here to fight.

This team should give their praises for one person alone here, Shamar Joseph. He set the example of not backing down when your back is against the wall. A true fighter. This spread througout the team, the intensity was up…

Whatever we lacked in skill against the mighty Aussies we made it up with heart, passion, bloood, and tears (lots of). We are Windies cricket… and we are ****ing back, baby!

Let me get this right.....
At lunch/dinner Australia required 29 runs and your boys needed 2 wickets.

And then you went to bed!!!???

For some strange reason I thought you were a serious cricket fan.

Boy did I completely **** that up.

Stayed up the previous night and got messed up…not was gonna let that happen tonight. I reckoned if that was gonna be the case, we’d lose and I would have hated myself. Boy was I right in getting some shut eye. The best happened, me getting sleep & is winning.

What a great victory this was not only for the W Indies but for cricket.

I'm sure it probably won't be the catalyst for a W Indies test revival but we can only dream.

What an addition to the world game a truly competitive W Indies test team would be.

Several things need to happen for this not to be a fluke win:

Wi cricket board needs to take it's head out it's behind and pick players on merit. I don't want to see the likes of Roston Chase or Blackwood etc back in the team.

Reward players loyal to WI cricket. Maybe the regional governments can get involved to help out players financially .

The fc season needs an extra round. I believe they play 5 matches, not remotely enough. Hope this helps especially with developing BATSMEN who can bat over a longer period of time. Would be nice of players could get into a county team like they did in the past. Don't know how that works now.

Hope the West Indies build on this win and go back to being a force in cricket.

Also those mocking them for touring can eat some Caribbean pie.
Yeah I was one of those. But this win is something else why?

It's been 27 years since wi won a test Australia

It's been goodness knows how long since wi has beaten a team not named Eng or Bang or Zim away.

Aus are the world champions and haven't lost a test at home vs anyone in recent time outside of India

Wi got destroyed in the first test and people including me, wrote them off and questioned their place in test cricket

A number of senior players chose money over wi cricket.

Is this s false dawn? No, so long as the WI board does right by these players, extends the fc season somehow, or get more A team yours so batsmen can learn to bat longer. And regional governments need to chip in to help out players financially. Cricket isnt cheap. Also spare a thought for Roach, i thought he was solid, without being spectacular in this series.
