*Official* England in India 2023/24 #CryMoreTour

He got absolutely carted in the first game. 1-81 from 13 overs.

Mad how a fielding side can just fall apart when batting, after conceding a 500+ score.
72-6 now as Potts picks up a couple.

It's definitely England's best chance in the Tests, scoreboard pressure.

100 overs in a day would be good for England - mean they could get to a higher score before their mandatory Day 1 declaration.
No one will ever bowl 100 overs in a day if the batting side is scoring at >3.5rpo or so. it's not feasible. It's also really unimportant. It becomes important if a side is scoring slowly and overs aren't being bowled, but if sides are routinely chasing leather it inevitably slows the rate down and no one should really give a toss because you're being entertained anyways.

As a 4 day match, they're supposed to bowl 96 in the day. Is it about entertainment or the ability to force a result in the match? Either way, I still have no idea why England were penalised so heavily in the Ashes.

There needs to be an end to unofficial games, the level of quality in this A game is worthy of being included in FC statistics, must really be annoying to get 140 in 218 but it doesn't count cause its not an official game.

I think this does have FC status? It is just that they call it an 'Unofficial test' because it can't be a test match by right given it is the 'reserve' teams. The previous tour match wasn't FC, but the three actual series matches do have this.

Yeah, pretty certain these must have FC status. It's a proper 11 v 11 no pissing about match. Will wait until it's finished to see if it shows up in an individual player's stats, but be amazed if they don't.

It's Bannerman territory. 215-8 at close and he's got 140 of them.
He should be playing for India right now. Got injured last year after a breakout ipl season and some A team form, nice to see him back from injury and amongst the runs.

What it does highlight is how the seniors can be successful. Get runs on the board and create scoreboard pressure.
That was the case in the Ashes too but we didn't take advantage of that in the first two tests.Choosing to throw wickets away instead.

I'm sure I have memory of us doing similar in 16/17 India series under Bayliss after the first test.

So the theory is sound whether the approach and/or pitches will warrant the desired outcome is another story.
