A few years ago when the BBL did those silly new rules, I really hated the x-factor sub thing in particular because the domestic OD comp once had a perfectly good 'sub' rule: the designated batter and bowler, wherein a bowler didn't need to bat but still had to field and one batter didn't need to field. I love it if the BBL brought this back but tweaked it so that you just had a designated player, and it could either be a batter who just bats or a bowler who just bowls their 4 overs but doesn't need to field.
obviously I'm thinking of this coz SOK, who could easily rock up next season and just bowl his four overs but it's probably the fielding (however minimal they try to make it for SOK) that's an issue for him and his calves. batters like Shaun Marsh and Arun Finch could benefit from this too. Idk I think it's just something that CA should consider to try to squeeze some more life out of their older players

He's 29 and been on the T20 roundabout for years. Occasionally smacks it about but never really been on the England radar. I could probably think of at least 8 English wicket keeper batsmen who are better than him.
Mind you, he's not exactly the only one who's got stuck, since Hales went the innings has fallen apart.

Tbh in that case it's also that he's very much a tennis nut and has real talent there too.

Eh it's not a full power serve obviously but it's not a lollipop either, you have to have some actual skill to return it (by amateur standards).

Especially given that they surely would have known all along this was going to be the marquee game, being a derby with both Smith and Warner available, and a huge crowd, so you'd think they'd try to make it, you know, good for batting.

i should say just talking about kohler cuntmore, tall paul had all the hallmarks of another english import from their domestix who comes to the big bash and then flops and has been absolutely excellent so props to him tbhwy
