Viv/Marshall vs Lara/Ambrose vs Ponting/McGrath vs. Chappell/Lillee

To me, Viv/Marshall are ahead.
I went Ponting/McGrath over Lara/Ambrose since I think McGrath's bowling edge is more significant.

Well its no secret I don’t rate Viv as highly as others. I have Marshall and McGrath as my top 2 pacers, Curtly rounds out my top 5, and Lillee doesn’t crack the 10.
I have Lara at 7 amongst batsmen, Chappell at 10 and Viv and Ponting 15/16, so that explains my vote.

I would rank the batsmen as:
Lara (my All Time no. 5)
Viv (no. 7)
Chappell (no. 13)
Ponting (no. 20)
And the bowlers as:
Marshall (no. 2)
McGrath (no. 3)
Ambrose (no. 7)
Lillee (no. 10)
So yeah, Viv/Marshall are comfortably 1st, followed by Lara/Ambrose, Ponting/McGrath and Chappell/Lillee.

To each their own, but.. Viv at 15 is a tad much. Didn't Viv and Chappell have the same average (or Viv slightly ahead) after the amount of games that Chappell played? And can't match the impact that IVA had, on the team, opposing bowlers or how the game was played.
I know you like grafters, and again, to each their own.

Yeah, Viv and Ponting were both among some of the greatest out and close fielders of all time, but Ponting definitely better and an ATG at slip, so yeah. That gives Aus the edge, McGrath and Marshall equally good in the outfield.

Fair enough. Ponting. I reckon it's close enough to be arguable though- Mcgrath was nothing special as a fielder.
Batting and bowling are more clear to me with each being arguably the best in primary discipline, and the other bringing an extra bit of value. But even if you think another pair has them beat in one department, that pair is weaker in another.
