Whatever it takes!!!
Like even now, its obvious our seamers are overcooked, and yet we continue bowling Bumrah.

Get Ash on one end. Get Prasidh to bowl a spell, see if he can bowl back of a length outside off with an off-side field and dry up the runs and see if there is any more of that variable bounce and movement in this track.

While all criticism is valid, it is very obvious the pitch has played a LOT better than it did yesterday. We were lucky to get 250 and while with better bowling, we may have had them like 200/6 now, its not like we squandered a chance to have them 150 all out here.

Disagree on pitch - we just edge everything that moves about. South Africans can effectively play inside the line.

It really surprises me that they haven't done this yet. A situation like this is exactly why you still pick a spinner in these conditions; you need to have an accurate offie who can just clog up an end and let the quicks rotate at the other. It's the Nathan Lyon school of off-spin but Ashwin in his last tours here showed here was perfectly able to do that too; instead Rohit seems intent on bowling his quicks into the ground and India out of the game.

Bedingham is 29 which is still young by test cricket standards these days,

Mike Hussey made his test debut at 30 and still carved out a good enough test career to be included in the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame.

I always felt it was the length. He is good at playing slightly inside deliveries that are short of a driving length. In SA that length is perhaps a little fuller than other countries. He is also good off the short stuff generally with his pulls and cuts. When it is full he has a decent punch down the ground or through cover. He is always susceptible when a seamer bowls it into his body as his history of legside dismissals will attest too.
That definitely lines up with how much he's struggled with Cummins and Hazlewood in particular.

A spinner is really useful as a holding option on Australian decks because of how flat those pitches are. Think the expectation here was that it's going to be a low scoring game so the quicks could handle the workload. He probably didn't bank on thakur being crap though he should have.

Sure but they literally just had an entire session break to work these things out.

A very well deserved 50 from Bedingham. Hope to continue seeing such innings from him (better if not against India....)

Nice fifty from Bedingham, he looks at home in test cricket,

Barely raised the bat for his fifty, he wants to get a hundred.
