On the positive side at least it is something different with two young middle order batters in McKenzie and Athanaze. No more Reifer at 3 and Blackwood chipping to mid off. Those two might actually learn from this tour.

I'm looking forward to seeing Shamar Joseph. He has a fantastic story (from body guard to test squad within 2 years), a bit of pace and shape.

Also Kevin Sinclair absolutely deserves his call up, he has been magnificent. It's great to see him rewarded.

Kraigg is going to have to bat forever to make this anything other than humiliating. I guess the side could be:

Braithwaite (C)
Chanderpaul
McKenzie
Hodge
Athanaze
Da Silva (WK)
Sinclair
A Joseph
Motie
Jordan/S Joseph
Roach

If they were gonna go this direction, then they should have recruited some Academy players: Kevlon, Joshua Bishop, Nyeem Young who is a better cricketer than Greaves and Zachary, combined
Tbh I'd prefer they use the eye test and just go with the most talented players we have regardless of experience. So I agree Nyeem Young would be a much better selection. Frankly Anderson would also be a better pick than Hodge.

Desmond Haynes have used this team selection with something at the back of his mind: careers are gonna end here. Why not throw these fresh, green faces to the wolves (Kangaroos).

Only the strong survive.

A slightly better pill to swallow.

Joseph was a security guard. I don't think he was ever anyone's bodyguard.

another absolute nonsense by cwi is they've given keacy carty a central contract but not taken him. he only plays ODIs. so they've given him that deal for what? haynes has stressed how they're investing in carty lol

king too is unclear? is he chasing the t20 bag and therefore unavailable? if not its another nonsense decision.

bonner and bravo both better than hodge, mckenzie, imlach but their ship has sailed.

edit: another comment on how bad Haynes is for WI cricket. he hasn't even called Blackwood to tell him he's out or why he's out. he acknowledged this in the press conference. he did the same shady business when the VC Powell was dropped from the ODI squad v India. he is a clown.

I dont believe Bravo's ship has sailed, he scored a lot of runs domestically according to Machel Hewitt a good journalist covering the West Indies, and if the alternative is players like Imlach whose batting average is lower than his age , you need to play your best team .

bravo is taking time out after not getting an odi call up and told dessie no thank you when approached about the australia tour. again horrendous man management by dessie.

The more I look at this the worse it looks. I honestly think there's a some chance that, with the meteoric rise of franchise cricket and lopsided revenue distribution worsening the gaps, this could be the last West Indies test tour here, but it's like Haynes is trying to accelerate the process.

According to the podcast, the selectors have been talking to players in England, New Zealand and Australia about representing the West Indies.

In an ideal world I agree. But I'd rather him than Reifer or Blackwood. Generally, if we are having to dig so far into our player pool that Hodge and Greaves are getting picked, I'd rather go with the best players in the academy and be done with it.
