***Official*** England Tour of the West Indies: December 2023

If you check which County he plays for it might help.....
I'm not sure they have ever favoured Lancashire spinners?
Keedy, Kerrigan, Parkinson (2 caps between the three of them - one as a full replacement). 3 between 4 if you include Livingstone.

See my post in the India tour thread, Tom doesn't even take wickets, and has never played List A for his county. Decent field, making progress as a batsman, although not much to show in the second half of the season, from memory.

The only time I've seen Hartley bowl life he was very meh.

Is selector bias to Lancs players in general actually a thing btw?

From Key’s remarks may we derive that Hartley and Bashir owe their selection at least in part to their being less likely to complain at being shipped round India as reserves and that hence Leach and Ahmed will be the only front line spinners?

Who you putting at 7 instead?
I think Livingstone is fine, but I wouldn't mind seeing Jacks trialled as a finisher in this cycle. Plenty of top order options so if he could bowl a little bit more and perform in that role too it'd make him a more useful squad option.

Yeah this could work.

I like the Salt/Jacks pairing but you could easily move Duckett and Brook up a place. Think Crawley, if he cuts it in ODIs, is better suited to 3.

No issue with Livingstone at seven in the T20s. You don't really need him to come off that often, and he'll contribute with the ball/in the field even if he doesn't bat. Jacks should open if he's playing. If you have Jacks and Livingstone, then you can play Curran at eight, which is a better batting position for him really.

Salt/Jacks is more of a T20 pairing. I'm not convinced either of them have it in them to play a long enough innings in ODI's before doing something stupid. The irony of course is that one of them will no doubt drop down tonight to allow Buttler to open.
