2023-24 Australian domestic cricket season

No the SA game you potato
Ehh it was definitely a disappointing result, but honestly the fact that South Australia were even in the fight for a win shows that there has definitely been progress in the last 18 months or so. Obvoiusly the top batting is still as shaky as ever, but this is the best bowling depth South Australia have had in a loooooooong time, and a couple of them in Manenti and McAndrew can really bat too

Carey should be back for the next game which is good. Not sure who he will replace though, a few potential candidates

Really conflicted right now. Davies making runs is awesome, but that making NSW look competent is really upsetting.

Henry Hunt has a had a shocker in the field. Multiple dropped catches and some simple misfields too. Pretty uninspiring for a potential international cricketer

Pretty inspired at least by the Indian Cricket Team. His ode to KL Rahul.

Wasn't great that, my read is that he just got in his own head after the first one went down (which was by no means a sitter) and just couldn't recover. Hunt is generally a fairly good fielder but he had a shocker there.

Stobo had a similarly bad time in the first innings, but unlike Hunt that genuinely does look his usual level in the field

South Australia 2nds going alright against the ACT right now, got them at 5-52 in the last dig. Two wickets to Grant, three to Campbell Thompson, who IMO will definitely be playing FC cricket in the next 12-18 months

Fair few players who have played here playing for other teams this round. For Tasmsnia Weatherald is on 187 not right now, my man Timmeh Oakley also in the Tas side took 5 in the first innings. For ACT Hanno is captaining them now, had a good game with a few wickets and 60 with the willow in the first innings, Zac Worden playing too but he didn't go so well

Wait did Tassie actually drop Weatherald? I assumed he was out injured. He's so much better than most of their top order, frustrating as he can be.

Yeah he got dropped. Think Wakim probably would have been the man out when Ward came back if he hadn't have made that round 1 ton, but he did so he couldn't really be left out even though I certainly believe Weatherald is a considerably more talented player

Was very much his own choice to move away from SA, but I have to wonder if he regrets that now with not getting games

Ended up on 223* in the end, in a chase of 423. Fair effort

Should presumably get him back in the side.

I would have thought they'd have preferred him to Hope anyway given Webster bowls about as well as him, but they wouldn't have regretted the Hope selection...

Yeah I honestly wondered what Hope was even doing in the team in the first place. He won't be being dropped in the near future now though

Can see either one of two outcomes. Either this is the peak of his career and will never be repeated, or he will basically forge a Simon Milenko 2.0 type career of looking unconvincing but making fairly regular nuisance contributions with both bat and ball
