***Official*** England Tour of the West Indies: December 2023

I'm surprised it's already a done deal if true. Usually there is a last minute deal struck when it comes comes to series in India presumably over what the host broadcaster charges.

Remember the last time I think Sky said No and Channel 4 ended up showing the test series live.
Do you think this is reliable?

I've tried to Google for any confirmation but there doesn't seem to be anything confirmed by Sky or TNT.

That website may be just guessing.
Thanks. I won't be watching matches in the WI or India then. ☹

they are trialling the 'stop clock' on the limited overs series, if the team(s) exceed 60 seconds between overs 3 times they get penalised 5 runs

seems a bit long to me, up to 49 minutes between overs in an ODI and 19 in a T20, considering they ought to be bowling the overs in less than 4 minutes to add on up to a minute between overs seems somewhat excessive.

you have to assume they timed how long teams take between overs, not that I'd use it as a benchmark for "possible" but certainly I would think 45 ought to be more than doable even if the fielders have to hurry up a bit. I mean what's the furthest any of them might have to traverse? (if indeed they don't just have third man come in a bit and field at mid-off instead of going all the way to third man from the opposite end)

Even if they did go from third man at one end to third man at the other should surely not take a minute, even at 4mph which I believe is or was postman required speed in UK you could cover 100m in a minute quite comfortably - and if the bowler ending his over fields at furthest point behind the stumps to the other bowler then got shortest distance

all they (umpires) really need to do is give the fielding side the hurry up, give out yellow cards for dragging their heels aka time wasting. Noone is expecting them to sprint to their positions, but maybe the days of walking slowly should be gone and I'd like to think in this day and age captains would have a preset bunch of positions/plans by bowler for each (key) batsman. it's not as if they don't know who they'll be playing in a few days time and have no idea who will be playing, far less variance in opponents' "best XI" in cricket, not going to be like guessing which three from Jota, Salah, Nunez, Diaz and Gakpo will be up top for Liverpool say

'They could yet show England's five-Test visit to India early next year with Sky and TNT Sport - formerly BT - also interested and a deal could again happen at the eleventh hour'.

In recent years, Sky have only shown Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa away test series. As has been rightly pointed out, Aus/NZ/WI have been shown on TNT/BT.

I suspect the radio coverage will be on Talksport too.

Also, if you're planning on streaming then the Discovery+ app is needed for TNT (BT) Sport.

There always seems to be some brinkmanship between Star Sports and Sky over our tours of India. It will always be settled before the first game. Just a case of who gets it. Not bothered which one televises it.

Matthew Potts added to the one day squad. Replacing the injured Josh Tongue.

Seems a bit odd. His selection was a bit of a surprise for this tour. Something he wasn't happy with perhaps?

Alright, it starts today. 2 hours away.

Interested to see how our middle-order do. Youngsters Alick, Carty, Rutherford, and Hetmyer

Hetmyer didn’t have the best of Super50, but he will have to use all his experience at the world stage to stitch together an innings

Probable XI: Brandon King, Kjorn Ottley, Alick Athanaze, Shai Hope (c/w), Keacy Carty, Shimron Hetmyer, Sherfane Rutherford, Matthew Forde/Romario Shepherd, Alzarri Joseph, Oshane Thomas, Gudakesh Motie
