Does Babar Azam have a chance as going down as the best ODI batsmen ever?

Kirkut

International Regular
wow pretty harsh on Babar, already one of the greatest ODI batsmen, to compare him to VVS who couldn't play ODIs to save his life
Nah, Babar vs VVS in ODIs is not even a comparison, just identical batting styles.

That 39 he scored in T20 semis last year got him plenty of criticism, but that's his real game.

Wow, standards must be low if scoring 30-odd in a final, in a match which was already set up is not just considered good but compared to other batsman scoring match winning knocks in must win situations. The CT 13 final was a joke, a 20 over game to decide an ODI tournament.
Also has 50+ in sf of champions trophy 2013 vs SL. Also 96 vs Ban in Champions Trophy 2017. Both were pretty easy chases, both Kohli did contribute when required

When did Babar's stock in limited overs rise so much? May be I was not paying attention.

Never caught the Barbar hype train. Never saw him do well in any match that I have paid attention to. Does he tend to bash weak teams?
Yup.

Minnows + second string lineups of SENA during IPL season.

At best, he's a Yousuf Youhana level player unnecessarily hyped by the entire Pakistani media ecosystem cause of having trash batsmen for more than a decade and wanting to have their own Kohli (who Pakistanis really admire cause of him being Punjabi and beating the **** out of their team on most occasions).

There are now even fan edits going around of Babar with some Pakistani actress to replicate Kohli-Anushka.

HouHsiaoHsien

International Debutant
I like Edward Yang amongst the three great Taiwanese directors.

Where should I start with Hou Hsiao-Hsien? I started City of Sadness but found it a bit boring. Millenium Mambo is good?
Start with 'A Time To Live and A Time To Die'. His style was coming into being then, and not so radicalised as now, so it is representative enough of him, without being disorienting, and doesn't require a lot of contextual info.

Sure. Will check it out.
