CWC Halfway Stage Tournament XI

Who would you replace and with whom?
Daryl Mitchell for Jadeja. Bat Mitchell at 5 and move Maxwell to 7. There is no point picking 4 spinners.

Or possibly Coetzee for Bumrah. Bumrah is a modern day ODI great and has been superb, but they shouldn't have 3 opening bowlers.

Don’t think the incremental batting justifies the deterioration in bowling particularly because Jadeja has been more than handy with the bat. I

Shami is a 1st change bowler . Bumrah and Janson open the bowling .

Let’s wait for SF/F to be over . Few guys may enter and few guys may get out of the Team.

Afghanistan deserve atleast one player in the team of the group stage , I would select Azmatullah Omarzai in place of Klaasen , he scored more runs than Klaasen and also took 7 wickets with his seamers .

Kumble wanted to pick Omarzai but Hayden overruled him because of SR.

Janesen totally lost his form towards the end. His ER of >6 rpo was anyway iffy. I wouldn't pick him in the team of the tournament.

With one game to go, I'd have the following:

1. Quinton de Kock
2. Rachin Ravindra
3. Virat Kohli
4. Shreyas Iyer
5. Daryl Mitchell
6. Azmatullah Omarzai
7. Glenn Maxwell
8. Gerald Coetzee
9. Mohammad Shami
10. Adam Zampa
11. Jasprit Bumrah

Main query might be whether Coetzee's good enough to bat 8 and that both him and Shami largely bowled first-change. Had the side been done earlier in the tournament Jansen walks in but his last few weeks were pretty poor which hurts, and I can't think of another good bowling all-rounder who opened the bowling.

Ravindra opening is also a bit of a question mark but he did open for half the tournament and I wanted to try and keep the Top 3 to specialist Top 3 bats. I think Iyer and Mitchell were both better than Rohit anyway.

Rohit over Iyer and Ravindra at 4. Rohit’s been one of the best captains this WC, and has provided a great start every match. Moreover it’s really a selfless role which insures that he won’t get a lot of hundreds. Iyer’s come to the party later on. Kuldeep over Zampa. Their contrasting performance in SFs, especially when Zampa was given a bette pitch to bowl on, should indicate the difference in quality.

Good side with decent depth in batting and a lot of bowling options. J'approve
