Yet when I said there were times he was compared favorably with the big two, I was told ... incorrectly so.Wow just looking at Waugh’s WI record (since Weekes was a big HTB)
10 matches vs Ambrose and Walsh in the Windies in the 90’s.
Walsh 54 @ 20.01 2 5’fers
Ambrose 38 @ 21.44 2 5’fers
Waugh 870 @ 66.92 3 tons 4 fifties
Next highest average of any Aussie who played more than 2 of those matches was 36.
He was only dismissed once by each of them.
But what's his S/R? That's the big question.
In that run at least, 51. Isn’t ~50 where people stop whinging? But what's his S/R? That's the big question.
Not Viv fans atleast. In that run at least, 51. Isn’t ~50 where people stop whinging?
Very underrated. It’s crazy that some rate Dravid higherWow just looking at Waugh’s WI record (since Weekes was a big HTB)

If people can rate Ponting higher than Waugh; I can't see why they can't Dravid.....Very underrated. It’s crazy that some rate Dravid higher
That’s a good point actually. Ponting = DravidIf people can rate Ponting higher than Waugh; I can't see why they can't Dravid.....
Because Ponting is better than bothIf people can rate Ponting higher than Waugh; I can't see why they can't Dravid.....
Better than Waugh.... Probably. Better than Dravid..... Not for me. All these three are definitely in the same tier; but Ponting against both spin and lateral movement was very average.Because Ponting is better than both
Ok, I'm seeing a trend developing. Noted.Better than Waugh.... Probably. Better than Dravid..... Not for me. All these three are definitely in the same tier; but Ponting against both spin and lateral movement was very average.
As you have seen the trend.... You're actually totally on point. I am Indian, have grown up hearing about stories of these Indian players; hence I tend to rate them higher than many non-Indians does. Is it biased? Yeah, to an extent definitely. Though mate, you also tends to do the same for many West Indian players.....Ok, I'm seeing a trend developing. Noted.
For me it isn't that close, and I guess that's because Dravid never scared me, Ponting did.Dravid > Ponting is a reasonable opinion although I would take Ponting. It’s very close
Depends on the conditions really. Ponting would scare me more on a flat/bouncy pitch but Dravid would scare me on a seaming/spinning pitch. For me it isn't that close, and I guess that's because Dravid never scared me, Ponting did.
