Agreed with everything except this. It's not like we are comparing him to Hammond or Kallis. Sobers himself was an attacking batsman and he was probably more capable to intimidating opposing bowlers than Viv. Atleast that's what Lillee said.Viv. Sobers has a better average, better long term peak, and more monster series. But Viv batted in a tougher era, has the best short term peak for anyone bar Bradman, dominated more ATG and near ATG bowlers than anyone, and has a much better home away record than Sobers(NZ aside, Sobers didn‘t prove himself in Pak as well). Plus, the psychological factors associated with Viv, and his ability to turn a match on its head quickly cause of his SR, make him edge this, in my view.
