4 overs after this, Hazelwood 1, Cummins 1, and......? or will they hope to get both out by 48th? Green able to bowl? Think if it came to it I'd rather him over Head, where overHeads are welcome!

England three best batters in this format (on paper - I know Malan's career average is higher) - YJB, Root and Buttler failed big time in this tournament. A good innings from one of them today and this could be a different result.

Why has Willey been a monumental failure with the bat at international level? No real reason for it.

King Kane

International Regular
around 12 an over, two a ball if you prefer, even a top order batsman with runs in the bank would be risking his wicket a lot to keep that rate going

and some talked earlier as if England could just plod along, preserve wickets and slog to the finish line. that script should have been binned early
England probably won't win now but if Bairstow, Root and Buttler hadn't been so bloody hopeless again they probably would have romped this in.

just play out Cummins and Hazelwood and score 24 off each of Head/Green and Stoinis' death overs.....

we'll call it plan K, after the captain

well England have to go down the path I've advocated on occasion in terms of how to do mission impossible, and that's quantify how many 4s and 6s you need, plus a few 1s and 2s obviously

44 needed, can probably discount or keep 6s in reserve, 9x 4s off the last 18 balls so one every other, tough any way you look at it

das kapitan australian has gone with Stoinis, confident England are out of it or just not willing to give a death over to anyone other than Hazelwood?

haven't we seen a few 27+ runs off overs past year or so....?

(EDIT : I wonder if the aussie 5th bowler regiment practice injury feigning, get someone to complete their over if it isn't going to plan)

Only bats when he needs to slog or when the top order have failed. Hard to build a decent average at eight or nine.
Not even talking about average really, he's just literally never come off in the way he can over approaching 50 innings.
