I may start a separate thread for this question. But was England’s 2016-19 ODI performance mainly due to Morgan ?
No! One player is never a reason for success or failure in a team game. That team was reason for success and this team is a reason for failure.

nearly said in my previous post that I'd probably cursed Moeen Ali!!! Just when he was shaping up to take a hold of the game, take responsibility, out he gets

near 10 an over with Woakes, Willey, Washid and Wood to get them, against some sides I'd maybe fancy them to sneak it, maybe just a stretch too far against a good aussie bowling line up

Moeen Ali gone and that's probably game over.

Hopefully the England lower order can at least get some good batting practice, we need England to put up a fight against Pakistan to make the semis.
doesn't matter what England do against Pakistan, they won't make the semis.... ;)

(EDIT : seems I need to spell out I was being facetious, thought the wink gave it away that I was exploiting the open to interpretation wording)

They actually played together as a team and had a lot more clarity. Morgan's captaincy must be a part of that for sure. These last 4 years England have sent B sides to all their ODI series which have often run concurrently with test series and now all of what should be their best players are underwhelming. That's the key imo. England had a pretty settled team under Morgan and they knew what they were good at.
