Not even close. There are so many turgid English batsman that don't even have a particularly high level of competence. Like sure, you may snooze your way through a Kallis century, but that century will probably make the game more interesting.

Atherton? Gooch? Strauss? Hussain? Vaughan? Lamb? Gatting? Collingwood?

You'd get more pleasure from reading the phone book.

And I don't want to hear any of this "but Vaughan was an attractive stroke maker". He only averaged about 5 per innings. Which if we're kind and give him the replays too, is probably about a minute worth of satisfaction per innings.

He's the most boring ATG cricketer, but there are hundreds if not thousands of professional cricketers just as boring, or more so, who jusy weren't as good

This is an appalling post!! I mean the gist of it is not without merit but that list of names is just terrible.......Boycott, Tavare ffs????

May as well have thrown KP, Stokes, Flintoff etc in there.

Boycott will affect the actual game result tbf. Which was my reason for saying Kallis is less boring. I don't know who Tavare is. Some kind of sauce?

It's gotta be Trevor Bailey. Just a lack of flair isn't enough imo. You need to have very limited stroke play and an eyesore technique too. Tavare is a good shout. Rory Burns too. Azhar Ali was very very boring though good. The bloke had 3 shots.

How was Kallis even boring? Elite batters playing shots immaculately is the peak of batting, and exciting. Batters playing shots in a sloppy or ungainly manner is bad to watch and closer to boring if you have to watch them doing it over and over. Kallis tended to play a lot of very good cricket shots. That's good batting baby.

Live he was kind of inevitable rather than boring or thrilling. Just an imposing beast at the crease.

I think we'd need to find a good player who wasn't particularly interesting to win the thread. Bad players tend to be fun because of their struggles, either through the suspense of the inevitable wicket or on their one or two golden days which is also fun.

Honestly it's probably a finger spinner who bowled flat darts.

He wasn't boring at all, he was the textbook cricketer. His slip fielding was world class, a lot of the younger players these days can learn his technique on how to slip field against quicks. A powerfully built man who could hit sixes, I mean people forget he's 5th in the list of most sixes hit in Test Cricket ..The Kallis cover drive is in the top 10 list of cover drives of any decent list. His bowling action is all power through the shoulders, he could swing the ball as good as any, and when in the mood could crank it up close to 90mph, often he just put his bowling on the back burner to churn out hundred after hundred for the team.
