DWTA honestly. I was and am an Old Man River fanatic but I don’t remember many people saying Boult wasn’t good enough. We were simply saying he hadn’t proven his ODI chops (correct, he hadn’t played) and Mills was still a gun and deserved to be in the team ( entirely correct and never able to be disproved). Don’t remember a lot of ‘Boult sucks at white ball cricket’.

Every other team saves about 10-20 runs in good fielding while our guys never, ever, ever actually stop the ball when they dive.

People were naming McClenenen, Henry and Milne ahead of Boult too (Southee obv a solid pick then)

I mean…he hadn’t played. Meaning both he’d shown nothing, and also the selectors hadn’t seen fit to pick him. As a punter there’s not a lot you can do when you don’t get a chance to see a guy play a certain format and at the same time the national selectors are saying he’s not worth a go

Looking back on it, McHesson pretty much invested heavily in McClenaghan from 2013-15 and treated Boult as a test specialist, then changed their mind at the last second.
