Who knows, he might still play if he feels a lot better by Friday and especially if Kishan has another poor game

In last World Cup, Dhawan's injury forced us to move Rahul to open which greatly weakened middle order. Really hope same doesn't happen this year 🤞🏼 Would rather live with Kishan's inconsistent hitting at the top than move Rahul.

difference is that Rahul was the backup opener then and was never a serious option for middle order where as now he is the main man in middle order with a history of opening problem

Storm in a tea cup imo, guy is already discharged from hospital & India have more than enough depth to play some of the early games in such a long tournament without him, & It's not like a bunch of other teams aren't playing without their top XIs.

Unless I'm missing something I'd be surprised if he misses any more than 1-2 matches at that.

Agreed. It is not like India is wholly dependent on Gill. Kishan is an able replacement and will come good. Also, Gill should be available in the latter stages of the tournament and him being 100% fit should be the priority. Shouldn't play him unless he is 100% fit.

I get the impression that Gill has recovered from the illness but is probably feeling weak.

So I'd play Gill if he is feeling okay by Friday.

And India has a 5 day break after that.

I know it’s a long way and anything can happen, but which side would you like us to meet in SF ? NZ , SA or ENG ?
