Not in the SC.Mcgrath is meaningfully ahead of Imran as a bowler

No one cares lol Australia play there like a few tests every few yearsNot in the SC.
Only because of Tendulkar's name value. Otherwise Kallis would be more valuable in the team in the 2000s.There's no way India trades Tendulkar for Kallis or Australia trades McGrath for Imran.
You clearly haven’t read enough if you think that’s the most ridiculous take.when did you start following cricket? That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve read on these forums, andve read a lot
No. With 7 Kallis they would draw every time.A team of 7 Kallis and 4 Imrans would beat a team of 7 Tendulkars and 4 McGraths every time.
All they would need would be to get McGrath on strike
Batting SR doesn't matter as much in tests as you're thinking.No. With 7 Kallis they would draw every time.
Aha! You admit Kallis cannot be defeated!!!No. With 7 Kallis they would draw every time.
I was only half joking. But a lineup of Kallis and we are talking more than a day and half to score 400. So you will end up drawing a lot of games that would have been won.Batting SR doesn't matter as much in tests as you're thinking.
Not really, 5 days is a pretty long time, especially if they other team bats only down to 7I was only half joking. But a lineup of Kallis and we are talking more than a day and half to score 400. So you will end up drawing a lot of games that would have been won.
Scoring at a rate of 300 a day, conditions permitting, is a minimum standards for me for XIs I select. Not really, 5 days is a pretty long time, especially if they other team bats only down to 7
Therein lies the problem though. Your standard is too rigid.Scoring at a rate of 300 a day, conditions permitting, is a minimum standards for me for XIs I select.
So that eliminates Sobers, Tendulkar, Smith, Hobbs, Hutton, Sutcliffe, Gavaskar, Dravid, Waugh, Border, Sangakkara, Kallis, Headley, Hammond, Barrington, Chappell, Walcott, Younis and Compton. Hell, even de Villiers.Scoring at a rate of 300 a day, conditions permitting, is a minimum standards for me for XIs I select.
300 give or take.So that eliminates Sobers, Tendulkar, Smith, Hobbs, Hutton, Sutcliffe, Gavaskar, Dravid, Waugh, Border, Sangakkara, Kallis, Headley, Hammond, Barrington, Chappell, Walcott, Younis and Compton. Hell, even de Villiers.
Short list of players you have left.
Wickets move test matches forward much more quickly than runs, which is why I've always valued bowling SR more than batting SR.Batting SR doesn't matter as much in tests as you're thinking.
So who are your openers? Assuming its Hobbs and one of Sutcliffe/Hutton/Gavaskar they’d score 250 odd - are you going to sacrifice that quality for faster scoring?300 give or take.
And SA would trade Allan Donald for Damien Fleming because he might have won them WCLol. Australia would have easily traded Ponting for Kallis. He would have finally won them a series in India
Bowling SR is overrated unless it comes with a low ER.Wickets move test matches forward much more quickly than runs, which is why I've always valued bowling SR more than batting SR.
