Towhid Hridoy is making some noises for his inclusion. This guy can bat. Im not sure how good hes against moving ball because not yet tested but hes turning few heads. Was part of u19 wc champion team. Deserves to be included in the upcoming England/Ireland series.

im not sure how he hasn’t played yet when it seems like every other batsman Bangladesh pick looks clueless.. he always gets picked early on cricket captain for the team:laugh:

It has been ridiculous from past few days that people want Mahmudullah back in the team. He is well past his prime and did not adjust to the ever evolving game. He is still slow, takes huge amount of time to settle. It just does not suit where he likes to bat at no6/7. We have Towhid Hridoy now coming at 5 and Mushfiq doing a good job at 6. Then Miraz is ideal at 7 to fulfill the spinning all rounder role in next WC as it will be played in India. There is no place for Mahmudullah but media and ppl here going bonkers to include Mullah. I think the team management/ selectors will eventually succumb to the pressure and he will be included at last moment for WC. A disaster waiting to happen really.

Mahmudullah has been out of side for quite some time now. Will be a horrible inclusion if hes selected in the squad for Asia cup and WC. I don’t know why media and people not realising hes past his prime long time back. There is a constant pressure to get him in the squad and I am afraid selectors will fall for this.

About captaincy since Tamim is no more ODI captain, Liton is a good choice. Going back to Shakib makes no sense. Even Miraz is a good choice too IMO. We don’t want anymore controversy before two crucial series.

Towhid Hridoy was on fire in lpl. I know the bowling isnt anything special in the league maybe but still enjoy whenever this man comes out to bat

Hridoy is good. Great find for BD. Najmul, Shakib, Litton and Hridoy form a good batting line-up. But BD lacks good bowlers to support them.

Agree but we have moved from rubel and shahadat era. Taskin, Shoriful, Fizz (not his old self still) form a good attack with Shakib and Miraz.

I think I have mentioned it before in another thread that Hridoy to be the best batsman that BD ever produced.

Yeah I believe in Hridoy too..as well as Taskin.. But the other bowlers apart from Taskin and Shakib not so much.

Tushar Imran did analysis on Towhid Hridoy in a video. He’s trying to say that Hridoy is struggling on fuller delivery due to his stance. He has high backlift and no initial movement for which he will be good against 140+ pacers short length deliveries for cut and pull but if they bowl fuller then hes in trouble. Similarly hes facing problem with spinners. He suggested Hridoy to change his stance into intial forward/sideways movement or to lower his bat a bit against spinners for success. I fully agree with this analysis and think Hridoy should make this adjustment soon.

See how high his backlift with no inital movement

What a weird af time for this team. Farcical circumstances before a world cup.

I don't think everyone needs a trigger movement but fair enough if others do. Tushar had the highest angle backlift I've ever seen. It was almost vertical when he was still getting selected in the mid 2000s, and IMO it was definitely one of the factors in him seeming to be about half a second too slow to bring his bat down against anyone of international standard pace. I can't remember watching him against spin, but can imagine he wasn't great against that either.

So that's probably why he wants Hridoy to lower his backlift lol

What a weird af technique he had. He must have changed it later on.

Gill does something similar and also struggles with the same problems albeit he is more talented so gets away with it more often

Hridoy’s backlift is almost like its not even vertical, its tilted to the opposite side. But his bat speed is tremendous. It comes down very fast.

Gill has trigger movement and he holds the bat at lesser angle which makes it a bit easier for him. Hridoy just stands still with high vertical angled bat. Mushfiqur has high backlift also but he does move a bit and being shorter in height makes it easier for him as well.

Wanted to highlight this comparison between Rohit Sharma and Liton Das. Both played a similar kind of shot first ball of the innings to Left arm quicks.

Liton Das against Boult

IMG_7901.png

Here we can see Liton came forward quite a bit and hes still on the move. His head is not in position. He got caught.

Rohit Sharma against Afridi

IMG_7902.png

Rohit sharma is pretty still at the crease. Head in position and he successfully dispatched it for four.

Humble pie

Good to see Mahmudullah back. Really impressive the way he worked his way back. Trained hard and remained calm. A lesson to be learned there for the guys who only got “talent label” with them but can’t justify at all.
