Have quietly been a fan of how Pakistan are restructuring their domestic competitions tbh. They also seem to be prioritizing women's cricket which is good to see. I hope these last and are not a flavor of the month stuff like a lot of their decisions seem to be.

To be fair, I think his ideas were, while understandable in intent, pretty half-baked. But those reforms, plus the new ones under the new management, together seem to have put Pak domestic cricket in good hands overall. Esp. in terms of it being a viable career option, which is the crucial part IMO.

I get the impression there is a basic understanding that it is a financial necessity given where the game has gone, but it is having an impact. Jamaica, for example, has hardly seen any domestic cricket for ages, and they couldn't even be bothered to bid to host games in the T20 World Cup.

So it is a pragmatic solution for now, but it can't be a longterm one unless they truly start to spread it around the islands.
