We'll always have rugby league and afl and the international clout those greatest ever sports provide.

We got a moral victory though right? Cuz we actually lost, like Wales were meant to last week
This group is wide open now ..So Australia has to now beat Wales to have a chance ? Bonus points could come into it aswell so Fiji will need to get 5 points if possible in their remaining matches

Meh

Fiji is generally good to watch and the Wallabies are pretty poor atm so can’t say that I am disappointed or surprised with the result

Only thing that mildly annoys me is the scheduling as I have no interest in waking up in the middle of the night to watch

2 southern hemisphere teams & they play at just about the most inconvenient time for viewers in both nations

Look, Namibia might be pretty good to watch play cricket atm and Aus aren't exactly at a high point in our history, but if we lost to them it would still be a national disgrace and rightly treated as such. This acceptance of mediocrity and a shrug of the shoulders at such a pathetic result is emblematic of a code happy enough with being cod ordinary in its private school cocoon. Oblivion awaits. Hopefully soon.

Fun fact: nearly half the players in the junior Kangaroos went to private schools

Private schools don’t discriminate when it comes to scholarships

They simply want the best athletes for their schools and don’t care whether they play rugby, league, Aussie Rules or give up entirely when they leave

I have said it before

The majority of youngsters don’t want to play the game and as a result, the rugby talent pool is shrinking and there’s sweet fa that RA can do about it

Are you comparing the Fijian rugby team who are professionals playing in France, England, Japan, and Super Rugby and one of the better teams in the world (recently beat England at Twickenham, and should've beaten Wales) with the Namibian cricket team?

Fiji are the equivalent of Bangladesh, not Namibia and rugby in Oz is the 4th football code whereas cricket is big.

Likelihood of us beating Wales?
50/50

Australia were building well under Dave Rennie despite injuries but they sacked him for Eddie Jones. Crazy.

I also feel sorry for Michael Hooper who is heaps better than any AB openside flanker (and a better captain than anyone in our squad) and Eddie Jones didn't pick him for the WC.

Yeah, and when Aus lose to Bangladesh in a WC it's a disgrace as well and should be called out.

Australian rugby players are professional sports people as well. The game is well resourced and should be doing better, but it doesn't for reasons which are well known. The sooner its put out of its misery here the better.

Tbf, Fiji is better at rugby than Bangladesh is at cricket

They’re a multiple time 7s world champion, Olympic gold medalist, virtually every one of their players are highly paid professionals and they recently beat England

The Wallabies are fielding one of their youngest teams ever and, at best, are going through a painful transition

Rugby isn’t well resourced in Australia at all

Virtually all money gets spent on the Wallabies and Super Rugby with nothing for grassroots

By way of contrast, the NRL tips $10 million + into junior rugby league every year
