This thread seems to have died slightly but #17 was the CT Final in 2004 when Browne and Bradshaw got the Windies over the line. #16 was the aforementioned NZ v Aus WC pool game in 2015. Both reasonable admissions in my view.

That down on one knee square drive from Bradshaw to win the 2004 final is one of the most badass finishes to any game I've ever seen.

Where they began, Carlos Brathwaite followed in terms of clutch victories over England in otherwise forgettable international careers.

It was quite ridic that innings. India needed to chase 321 in 40 overs to stay in the tournament. Kohli did it with few overs to spare. It belongs IMO.
'Tournament'. A quick look at the table shows that it really didn't give them much chance as their NRR was so awful anyway. They'd have needed Aus to obliterate SL in the final game to have any hope.

It's a great individual innings, but to put it in the Top 20 ODI's of all time is ridiculous. If it wasn't for this daft love for Kohli, it wouldn't be there. I watch a lot of cricket and couldn't remember this ODI at all.

I assume on this basis that this ODI will be Top 10.

Meh, there are a load of amazing innings in regular ODIs. I'm sure it resonates with Indian fans but it has no wider meaning for the rest of us - I'd wager that those who support other countries could pick out a handful from their best players and we'd soon well be over 20 matches before we even get to actually important ones. For example, Jos Buttler alone

His breakthrough century in a valiant attempt to secure a victory for an otherwise inept England side

Series winning ton off 46 balls

Series winner in Australia

A winning century, securing a one wicket win and a whitewash against the old for from a near impossible position

Going toe to toe with Gayle in a six-fest

Maybe some of those Butler innings will make it to the list. But as the article says Kohli's knock came at a time when those kind of knocks were still rare.

Not interested in defending the choice myself beyond a point. But I also disagree with the lazy assertion that this was chosen to please Indian audience. When 14 entries are yet to come and this is the only one involving an India match out of 6 to appear so far.

Personally wouldn't have put that Hobart ODI in a list if I made it, but it's not really an outrageous pick right? It was an astonishing game to watch and that innings is remembered fondly by other non Indian posters too because of the crazy assault on Malinga in particular.

The knock only happened because India needed a bonus point so had to win inside 40 overs. It was totally contrived and didn't come in a pure match situation. It should literally be nowhere near the top 100 ODI's let alone 20.

I'm sure India in the 2002 Nat West Final will appear, and judged by this effort, probably 2 more random matches that no one else had considered.
